He wasn't that big then, but you can see why
I've said it before, but Kareem looks like the one who had been retired for 10 years in those pictures

Knew Wilt was working out hard in the 80's but it always surprises me. No wonder he made comments about Kareem not pushing his body athletically

dude I'm tellin you there's been other guys that were taller, or other guys that were bigger arounder. But not bigger.
Back in the day you could run out on the court after games and so forth. You could get right up close to the bench, or whatever. You'd get chased off back to the stands, but that was it, see? I had friends that got thrown out of a few games by going right out in front of the bench trying to get autographs. Dumb@sses I call em to this day on that!!
Nate Thurmond size was more than impressive. Kareem was impressive, Lanier. I shook hands with all three of those guys in the long ago day. Body-wise, Bob Lanier was huge. More imposing than Kareem tho of course later Jabbar bulked up over years. I stood right next to Tom Boerwinkel who was 7 foot and that dude was big. #13 made all of them look flat out small.
In every real sense of the word, Wilt Chamberlain was a giant.

Do you know of any "beef" between Wilt and Gus?

If you mean Gus Johnson? Chamberlain didn't slow down at all around Johnson at least not on the court. What I mean, if ol' Gus was in the way Wilt made it a point not to dance around him.
Lots of guys didn't like him. He was real physical... not always in a good way. I never heard of him pulling like a Bruce Bowen.... who should still be incarcerated..... but not too many guys liked him, no.
Willis Reed made it a point to physically abuse Gus Johnson and so did old Luke Jackson. We are talking about some big dudes right there, going out of their way for a collision. Lou Hudson followed him around blocking his shot one night and they squared off but the refs got there first. My money was on Gus but who knows. Meschery was an enforcer , sometimes they would set that dog on Johnson.

You do realize Shaq was a kid in that video right? And Wilt was a man. Wilt could be his dad.
Let's see Wilt do that shit to prime Shaq.

Btw, lol at people saying "Bill Walton doesn't belong there"... He played about as complete and perfect at his peak as a player could. Had he not been injured, he'd be in the top 10 and not Hakeem...
His peak was 1 year...

One of those comments on the commercials make a good point about why Nike kicks Reebok's ass. What's more appealing to get someone to buy Sneakers: Wilt Chamberlain and Bill Russell whispering into Shaq's ear over ominous music, or Mars Blackmon?

Maybe it's the basketball nerd in me but seeing all of those legends gave me goosebumps. Shaq knew he was among legends. Kind of awe struck. Even a prime Shaq though thicker than Wilt would look smaller.
