My new Playoff System

I might be off my rocker tonight with one to many gin and tonics, but here is what I'm thinking would be sweet. It keeps a little bit of the current format and mixes in a little NCAA march madness. Let me know your thoughts. Too lazy to plug in the current match ups that would happen if the playoffs were to start today.

My solution: Top 8 teams get home court. Next you take the remaining teams, top next 8 best records overall get a 1 game home playoff game against the next 4 best records from each conference. Chances are 9th best beats the West best remaining "number 1" to go into a series against 8th overall, which is why i didn't put 16 there for example.

Basically the top 8 teams are guaranteed home court. The next best 8 overall get a one game home matchup to advance into the normal NBA playoff series. Alternatively, you can just take the top 24 teams I suppose and do the same format, but this makes it where playing in a conference matters just a little more.

1 vs A 5 vs E
2 vs B 6 vs F
3 vs C 7 vs G
4 vs D 8 vs H

NCAA type one game elimination: "NBA Sweet 16"

H = 9 overall best record vs West next remaining best record #1
G = 10 vs East next remaining best record #1
F = 11 vs West second remaining best record
E = 12 vs East second remaining best record
D = 13 vs West third best remaining
C = 14 best overall vs East third best remaining
B = 15 overall best record vs West fourth best remaining
A = 16 overall best record vs East fourth best remaining
