Yeah. OP, I think 90% of people are going to say Hakeem. A more interesting thread would be to rank players 2-5 in the MJ era. We know Hakeem will go #2, but 3-5 should be interesting.

How about some respect for The Diesel.

Very good NBA starter
Re: Second best Player in the Jordan era?
During which years?
In the 80s it was Bird followed by Magic or the other way round. In the early 90s it was Hakeem followed by Barkley followed by Robinson followed by Malone. In the mid-to-late 90s it was Shaq.

Not from '96-'98. Really depends on what the OP is talking about when he says "Jordan era". Cause Jordan was #1 from '88 on. So then Bird/Magic would be #2's in some years. Maybe even Isiah. But if you're talking about who played the best for the largest part of the "Jordan era", then it's gotta be Karl Malone.

I think most people would have agreed that Malone was #2 during the 90s. Hakeem's legacy has really expanded post retirement. While these guys were actually playing the Dream certainly wasn't considered the "easy" #2 - not by a long shot.
I'm not saying I disagree that Hakeem was the second best of the era, just pointing out that it wasn't the consensus during the time.

Re: Second best Player in the Jordan era?
Aight lemme be more clear with my opinion on it. Like people said it's really not clear when the Jordan era was. To me it started in the 90s when they started winning, so with that in mind I'll say
Early 90s = Hakeem
Late 90s = Karl Malone
Also arguments for: Charles Barkley in the early 90s, David Robinson in the mid-late 90s, Shaq in the late 90s. No guards really come to mind aside from Clyde and MAYBE Payton, but Payton's a stretch for ever being #2

crap forgot about Penny and Grant Hill in the mid 90s. Add them to the honorable mentions
