Bad deal. Gasol is an expiring contract, and Nash's contract expires next year. Why severely limit your spending power the next year by adding a max-contract guy who isn't even top 20 in the league?

Because they probably aren't going to do better in free agency and not have near as much cap as people think as they will be paying Kobe $20m+.

This is a great deal for the Nets.
Gasol expires this year, and Nash expires next year.

The Nets could get Gasol and then ship him out this year or let him expire. Same thing with Nash.

Or keep both and have a lot of depth.
