Default Remember: Walt "The Wizard" Williams

I first got into basketball in the early 90's so the players and teams of that period have always left the greatest impression on me. I really liked the 1992 draft and The Wizard was one of many young exciting players coming into the league at the time. Walt always wore those high socks which I always thought was cool.

Hell yeah, I loved the Wizard.

I remember him playing for the Heat for like half a season and Dr. Jack loved calling him "the Wizard". Not as memorable as him saying "LEONARD!!", but I still remember it pretty vividly. He was an exciting player, kind of a microwave guy like Jamal Crawford (if I remember correctly).

I lived in Buffalo as a kid so the Raptors were basically the most 'local' team and I remember rooting for those squads with Walt Williams, Damon Stoudamire, Doug Christie, Camby, Oliver Miller and co.

And yeah, Walt rocked it with the high socks. Always enjoyed watchin him with that old school look.

Wasn't there someone on those teams that had a big old afro? I actually remembered it being Walt until I looked up his pics with the Raptors right now and it wasn't him. Could have sworn they had someone that rocked like a 70's fro and shot three pointers.

You're probably thinking of Carlos Rogers. Tall skinny guy that could hit three's. I don't remember him with a fro..but he probably did grow one at some point.

I remember watching a segment with him practising his half court shot while with the Raps. He was just nailing them at a high rate. Loved the Wiz....

Heartfelt story. Carlos didn't have a long NBA career. He was decent, thought he would have stuck around longer.

I remember him playing with a rookie Steve Francis, and Cuttino Mobley. Along side Kelvin Cato.
