The Toronto Raptors announced Thursday they selected 18-year-old Brazilian forward Bruno Caboclo (cuh-BO-clo) with the 20th overall selection in the 2014 NBA Draft. In the Draft

The 6-foot-9, 205-pound Caboclo was named MVP at the 2013 Basketball Without Borders Americas. He played in 16 games this past season with Pinheiros in Sao Paulo, where he contributed 4.9 points and 3.1 rebounds. In three Liga Americas games, he averaged 8.0 points shooting .714 from the field and .667 from three-point range.

Today was actually the second game, yesterday was the first. We beat the Lakers 88-78.

I have to admit, I was left scratching my head when Bruno was picked, but he had a pretty decent showing for his first SL game. 12 pts on 5-7 shooting including 2-2 from three.

Bruno played the 3rd most minutes for the Raptors in the Lakers game and played the most minutes for the Raptors in the Nuggets game. Jesse Mermuys and the rest of the summer league staff is definitely trying to get all the playing time they can for him.

I've liked that he's competing a lot on defense. He's getting out muscled in a position battle, which was expected. He can definitely knock down open shots. He likes to go left when he takes players off the bounce. He can score on lob plays with pretty good ease, just needs to get more comfortable with it. Had a nice basline basket, and 1 today too. He's not ready create of the dribble consistently until his confidence grows, but he can be a catch and shoot player.
