Player Who We'll Never See Another Of
What current or former player will we never see another of? Watching old highlights of Charles Barkley and I just can't envision another like him coming along. The guy was an absolute freak of nature. The guy was 6'4" 3/4 and dominated guys 5 and 6 inches taller. He was also 250-260 pounds and ran the court like a point guard. He had an incredible amount of natural power. It seemed that Barkley was always the strongest and most physical player on the floor, despite his height.

This video shows how amazing he was. The dunk at 1:31 is extraordinary.

Iverson. We'll never see someone that small dominate scoring like he did again.

We'll never see another Hakeem, Oscar Robertson, Dirk Nowitzki, Shaq.
That's all I can really come up with. These guys have something REALLY special about their games that would be extremely hard to copy.

The players of the 70's probably said the same thing when Tiny Archibald
was playing...In a league with rule sets tailor-made for quick perimeter players. I'm sure we'll see another small scoring guard come along.

I think it will also be a long time before we see another David Robinson. A guy who is 7'1" and chiseled, can run the floor better than any center, sky for the alleyoop, shoot the baseline jumper, pull down 12 rebounds per game, and block 3 or 4 shots per game.

good scorer
Re: Player Who We'll Never See Another Of
I think that we'll see another Dirk kinda soon-ish.
Ryan Anderson has the shooting ability. He's not as good of a rebounder, granted playing next to Dwight impacts that. And he's got nowhere near the handles amongst other things. But he is kind of close in a way. Where as I can't think of a guy who emulates alot of Hakeem, Bird, AI, etc etc.
No bigs practice post moves anymore really. they mostly practice shooting look at Bosh, Boozer, Amare, etc etc. Primarily jumpshooters, who occasionally work in the post and have a few post moves, but not necessarily post up guys. So all these factors are going to play into this
Or Kevin Love is kinda in that category for up and coming guys too. Him and Griffin are the two biggest 4s that have come up recently in the past few years and developed really well. So I guess it goes both ways, but I think it is shifting somewhat.
