Default REPORT: Tim Duncan exercises contract option for next season

    https://sports.yahoo.com/news/source...011839623.html

He's probably going to be mediocre as hell again, but I don't care.

This is probably his last season.

It doesn't lock in that he is coming back though, wasn't today the deadline or something

So nice, he needs to play one more year, and bring Spurs another title before retiring. He will retire like David Robinson's last year, it will be a perfect story.

He got injured last season in the latter half. Before that, he was looking like the DPOY and was balling out of his mind for a 40 year old. He will be back healthy and rested again this time, playing at a much higher level than he was after coming back from injury last year. If the 28 year old UMVP gets the benefit of the doubt for a minor sprain, then a 40 year old top 5 GOAT should get one as well.

Trade LMA, 41 year old Duncan is still better than soft LMA.

Not really, he can still put in 10 minutes a game for 2-4 more years.

Opting in doesn't mean he's definitely back. He could still retire and he'd get his salary for this year.

As if any other all-time great could bring the same production if they didn't retire sooner. I'm certain 90% of all HOFs could have played 10 quality minutes if they chose to keep playing several more years after their initial retirement. Difference is most of them had the grandeur to leave once they realized they were way past their best.

Nothing special Tim is doing here.
