Titles are overrated
Re: 2006 Kobe better than 2nd 3 peat Jordan?
The 06 Suns were good. And Kobe did all one could expect taking it to 7 games. No problem with that...
Its just seems we have lost any way of describing a team that is good with anyone but loaded or stacked. People calling the Lakers stacked now....you were saying the Nuggets....it seems teams have two options....
Ass....or loaded.
We take everything to such extremes.
The 06 suns were a good team. Very good. Its true the standards have changed over the years but they were already changing then. It wasnt back to 01 when the Lakers having 2 superstars made them untouchable.
06? Quite a few teams had a #2 who could hang with the likes of Marion and then some solid role players behind them.
It was a legit good team. Kobe should not have won that series.
But they werent just stacked. Its kinda like the 15 and 16 Warriors. More a great team than a stacked lineup. Cant account for chemistry.

Joe just signed with atlanta. Diaw and 2 picks were compensation to let him get a bigger deal....much like how Moses malone was "traded" to the 76ers or Lebron was "traded" to the Heat.
Its a free agent signing with a deal worked out to help each team.

marion averaged 20ppg, 12rpg, 2spg, 1bpg on 49%fg's in the 2006 playoffs
he was their 3rd guy before amare went down
i dunno too many teams that had a 2nd guy like that let alone a 3rd guy

that could be one of the best deals any team ever got for a sign and trade
diaw is one of the smartest players ever
i bet you didn't know this but diaw averaged 19ppg, 7rpg, 5apg, 1spg, 1bpg on 53%fg's in the 2006 playoffs over 20 games
did i say they were stacked?

I'm gonna be honest, 2nd three-peat MJ was more dominant than Kobe, but Kobe had a way of elevating teammates that rivaled and sometimes exceeded Jordan's
I remember cheering against Kobe during that time, and it annoyed the hell out of me that he was in so many games with dogshit teammates - seriously, this guy gave Brian cook a career.. this guy, and medvedenko, and kwame, and smush, and so many stiffs to name - they all actually played pretty good and hit big shots all the time - I give Kobe and his sheer desire a lot of the credit for elevating these guys.. these guys did fear him - they feared not living up to his standard and played their ass off for him

common man. you give a little you get a little
if i'm gonna be respectful and say jordans the goat then the least you could do is say peak kobe was better than 33-35 year old mj
the guy was on his last legs gassing out a ton and had a bit of luck to get those last 3 rings
rodmans was arguable finals mvp in 96
kerrs title winner in 97
running on fumes and getting some phantom fouls at the end of game 6 in 98 ... then the brutal achilles chop no call game winner
over that 3 year stretch jordan had 3 games of 50+ points and topped out at 51
kobe had 10 games of 50+ in one season for **** sakes
55 in a half during the 81 vs toronto... 62 in 3 quarters vs dallas
4 straight 50's with 2 60 point games sandwiched in there
are you seriously gonna ****ing try and sit there and tell people you think that old busted up MJ was better??
he was still dominant yes.. still mvp caliber yes. on the level of kobe at his best? F*CK NO
only absolute peak MJ and absolute peak wilt come close to kobe individually
do you seriously want me as an enemy?
smarten up

Knowing how jordan played (like Kobe), the stats tell the story
And they don't come remotely close to supporting a case for Kobe
He had a 19.9 PER in the 2006 playoffs
Should I go on?

No he didn't - Kobe played well in Chicago that year, but 98' MJ still exceeded him that game, and then destroyed him in the all-star game in front of a bigger TV audience
he scored on Kobe 5 times mono-a-mono and stuffed Kobe's attempt at an iverson crossover

You mean mano a mano, lmao. Mono a mono would translate to monkey against monkey. That 3ball racism.
