Like most things theres not not one answer to this. It's a multitude of things. I'll give you the 3 main reasons though.

One: Michael Jordan was the superior defender at that stage in there careers. Even when he wasnt amazing on the offensive end he could still heavily impact the game on the defensive end. Lebron The last few years has all but given up playing defence.

Two: Jordan played within a system where LeBron pretty much was the system. One is optimal for winning and the other is optimal for individual stats.

Three: was Phil Jackson. Jordan respected Phil and would actually listen to him and often take his advice. I don't think Bron has really ever respected any of his coaches and pretty much does what he feels is the better way. To his defence he's never had a great coach like Phil but I wonder if he just likes doing shit his own way and doesn't really want a real head coach anyway.

Note: the "he didn't play the warriors" excuse is a bad one. Rockets pretty much beat the warriors last year mainly because of there defence. That's how cle beat them also in 16. Jordans bulls where much better than Cleveland or the rockets defensively. Jordan, pip rodman and Harper would cause fits for the warriors. They were Tailor made to beat them.
