The Spurs have waived guard Stephen Jackson, the team announced Friday. Jackson, who had missed two of the last three games due to an ankle injury, averaged 6.2 points, 2.8 rebounds and 1.5 assists in 55 games with the Spurs this season. Teams have until Sunday evening to put in a claim for Jackson, but since he was waived after March 1, he is not eligible for the postseason.

Analysis: This certainly comes as a bit of a surprise as Jackson must have done something to get under coach Gregg Popovich's skin. However, Jackson hasn't been relevant in Fantasy ever since he landed in San Antonio, so maybe a change in scenery will help him find his game again. While Jackson obviously won't have any Fantasy value for the rest of this season, owners should keep an eye on where he lands over the summer. Don't forget, Jackson is only two years removed from averaging 18.5 points, 4.5 rebounds, 3.6 assists and 1.2 steals when he was in Charlotte.
