Default If LeBron shoots 34% from 3 for his career and Kobe shot 33%...

Why does nobody ever say "Kobe can't shoot" or "He can't make that shot consistently"?

People only give sh*t to LeBron.

Both averaged 4 attempts for their career.

because Kobe's bad percentages partially come from bad shot selection. Lebron's take bad 3's off the dribble too but they're usually less contested or off balance. Kobe's outside shooting and midrange can be overrated however. He's no MJ or Dirk from midrange. Guys like Pierce or Carter are better 3 pt shooters.

The reason Kobe's percentage is so low is because of his shot selection. You could live with it because of his insane ability to get hot at any time. The dude has the record for 3pt FGM in a game

Kobe makes tough shots. LeBron makes easy ones.

It's a case of skills vs. smarts when it comes to outside shooting for them.

LeBron can't make the shots Kobe can, Kobe can make the shots LeBron can, but he can't get the shots LeBron does because they have to respect LeBron's driving ability much more than they did Kobe.

LeBron has made a ton of difficult 3s. Just cuz he sucks at 3s now doesn't mean he always did

LeBrons shot selection isn't as good as people think it is tbh.

So far, no one in this thread has seen kobe play from 2000-2007....which has been confirmed numerous times.

"People didn't respect Kobe's Driving ability"

"Kobe can't get the looks and opportunities that Lebron gets"

"Kobe and Lebron are pretty much neck and neck from beyond the arc"

I mean....how aren't these replies considered as troll bait??

I'll leave you guys with this:

1 guy scored more points in 3 quarters than the other guy scored in his entire career.

Because people usually contest Kobe's 3s much more heavily and they usually give Lebron more space because his drive is far more dangerous than his outside shot.

also near the end of shot clocks, LeBron is more likely to try and find a teammate for a shot and Kobe's much more likely to try and get a shot for himself, so he's taken much more end of shot clock low percentage shots.

Different style of players. As a shooter, Kobe's simply better; better form, better fundamentals, better shot. It's kind of ridiculous to use stats and only stats to judge a player's shooting ability.

The only even ground in that way, no one challenging the shot, standing still, same distance, is free throws... what's their career ft% head to head?

Kobe shot a dazzling 25% on 3s in 2001, taking less than 2 a game. GOAT

Kobe is definitely a better shooter than LeBron, but FTs don't necessarily prove much. John Wall is a better FT shooter than JR Smith for instance

I'd never call Kobe a better shooter than Curry or Klay Thompson. He's not even in the same class.

But His ability to create space and being a 2-motion shooter allows kobe to shoot over nearly anyone on the court.

His shooting ability is complemented by his extremely quick first step which leaves the defender naturally "at bay".

Very similar to Kyrie except he's smaller. I wouldn't be surprised if I saw Kyrie drop 75 points or something before anyone else does.

You realize that the Kobe from 2001 is MILES different than the Kobe you saw growing up, correct?
