Amare's midrange jumper is just as deadly now
Maybe when he's wide open.. You can't tell me that a contested Amare jumper will go in the same amount of times Dirk's do when he's totally smothered by a defender.

Go ahead
1 Time MVP
1 Time NBA Finalist
10 Time All Star
4 Time All NBA First Team
4 Time All NBA Second Team
2 Time All NBA Third Team
Lead his team to 10 consecutive 50 win seasons (and counting).
#23 on the NBA's all time scoring list and still climbing. Will probably end up in the top 10 or 15 when all is said and done.
Bye.

Accomplishments and Accolades for the most part are subjective, and largely based on popularity and overall who's in the most favor..unless based on stats alone for ex. Scoring CHAMP
but allstar game nominations
Defensive Team selections
All NBA teams
MVP's
Rookie of the Year
These things do display a persons value but ..they ahve to be taken in context...at the time
Most accolades are tainted and not awarded to the people that deserve them
examples.
ex...Did somebody get a allstar selection or ALL NBA team selection because a more talented player was injured
Vince carter all star selections just because fans want to see him dunk (not cause of his level of play)
etc....
I can go on ...

Wait a second.
If you are talking about current condition (who is better at the moment) I would pick Amare over Dirk.
If you are talking who had more successful career than the answer is obvious-Dirk.

dirk does hit more difficult shots that are contested...I cannot argue that..but not sure if that makes him better

I agree with everything you are saying..im just comparing player..current Amare is better than Dirk
Dirks career has been more successful so far is better than Amare's..thats largely due to being in the league longer to have more time to achieve things

Now you're conceding that Dirk is better since you know you had a fail argument.
As for that garbage about saying Dirk's career's only better because he's had longer to do it, no. Prime Dirk was better than prime Amar'e. More unstoppable scorer, better playoff performer, won much more consistently, was injured far less, and had better playoff success. Amar'e's career hasn't been much shorter than Dirk's. Dirk only had 4 more years, one of which was a half of a crap season as a rookie. So basically 3 more years. Amar'e can't accomplish what Dirk did over that span to close the gap unless he magically wins a title in the span. I doubt he gets any MVPs either now with Melo there.
It's safe to say Amar'e will never be considered better than Dirk on the all time list unless he wins a title (as a main guy, not as a roleplayer ala current Shaq if he gets another) and Dirk doesn't.

I have not changed my argument..unlike most people on this board i give credit where it is due..Dirk has ha da better career (team success)...Im talking about them as individual players
Now let me school you real quick
Dirk has played 11 seasons..excluding current and rookie
Amare has played 7 exluding current and rookie
thats 4 years...1 year amare only played 3 games..so we can call that 5 years...3 of those years amare played less than 59 games...so we can round that up to a 6 year advantage.....
6 years is a long time..if we go back 6 years ...ya man Dirk wasnt even an MVP lol

he did a hell of a job handing the spurs the series last postseason over the Mavs
