That's no coincidence.

He's trash. He was an experiment. Can he play in the NBA? Sure, as a role player. But he'll never be a star.

STAR? WHO THE HELL SAID HE WAS A STAR? RETARTED! OF COURSE HE IS A ROLE PLAYER JUST LIKE GOODEN AND VAREJAO.

And if in fact contract are an issue, trade away Claxton for some future picks and considerations.

Obviously you have no clue what it is you are talking about.

Claxton has a big contract, with three years left, had a horrible year, and was injured. And you say trade him for picks. Find a team who wants that contract and is willing to send picks for him. That's right - there isn't one.

Since the Hawks are committed to Claxton for three years, it doesn't make sense to add another big contract in Alston's, when they can get productive, if limited play, from Johnson and Lue. Hopefully, Claxton will be healthy this year and then next season and the year after that, he can be a good backup for Law.

Law has to get minutes this year. That doesn't mean he has to start. But he needs minutes. Then next year, if he is good enough, he can start. Otherwise, he can share duties with Claxton or Lue (if the Hawks re-sign him).

Also, Alston is not that good. Certainly, not worth the contract he has.

If he was, the Rockets wouldn't have traded for Mike James.

If the Rockets want to get rid of Alston, then they can try to move him for either Nazr Mohammed in Detroit, Brian Cardinal in Memphis or Marco Jaric in Minnesota.

He ain't coming to Atlanta.

Here on the specifics: 3 years left on the contract at $14.7 million. He makes $4.55 million this season, $4.9 million next year, and $5.25 million in the final year.

Pros: Decent rebounder for his size and position, salty demeanor on the court, hits FTs in the clutch (haven't seen him miss too many in close games), plays the passing lanes decently.

Cons: Poor decision making, poor shooting percentages, shoots too much at times. Only 3 cons, but their pretty big cons.

Any takers?

Nope not even as a backup. Not even as a cheaper player to aquire in attempts to move Andre Miller for something. Heck Houston could buy him out and I wouldnt want Rafer for a cheap $1mil 1yr deal.

Cross off the Sixers.

He would have made sense for the Pistons before the draft. A Nazr for Rafer swap would have been a good trade of garbage that could become more useful garbage for their new teams. But now the Pistons have two 1st round picks at guard they're going to want to take a serious look at before they give any minutes to Skip.

I like Rafer alot of teams do
but his contract is the major problem
thats why he's not going anywhere unless some one is desperate for a Pt Guard

I don't think Atlanta needs him
yall have like 20 pt guards already
Acie Law is really good and only a rookie wait till he plays before you consider bringing in another pt.

The best place for Rafer would be the clippers or Seattle
even the Trailblazers! is a good fit

Clippers just signed Brevin Knight
Seattle wants to get rid of a PG
Portland just signed Steve Blake and have Jarett Jack as him back-up as well as Sergio Rodriguez and they got a young PG from Finland in this year's draft

The Cavs have Damon Jones to swap out.

The Cavs could send Damon Jones, another contract, cash and a second round pick for him.

Alston is an upgrade over Jones, while the Rockets would get cap space, cash and a second round pick in return.

No point guard. Do you people understand English?

We have:

Mike James
Steve Francis
Aaron Brooks
Luther Head
John Lucas III
Rafer Alston

All players play at least some point guard. We don't need another point guard. We don't need Rafer Alston. We don't need Jeff McInnis. Thus, we don't need Damon Jones.

The Jones for Alston deal is to save money.

If you want a forward in return, then send Alston for Brian Cardinal.

Don't expect much in return for Alston.
