By text book, do you mean ball in front of the shoulder of your shooting arm (to the side of your head), elbow pointed straight. Follow through coming primarily from the thumb, index and middle finger? I think that's as text book as it gets. I try to follow those, but for some reason I feel my form is not so

Same except my release point is way above the top of my head and I usually jump about a foot for my jump shots. It takes me at least second to shoot a successful three-pointer (from getting the ball off my dribble to actually releasing it). I am not a very fast shooter.

my fade-away and pull-up jumpers are pretty much identical to Kobe's. I just studied em over and over and over again.

i was wrong, i do not shoot like rip.
my jumper looks like James Harden, both left-handed and not a lot of elevation in the jumpshot.

I dont know a NBA player who shoots like you, you hold the ball in front of your head. And your release is kind of weird, sloppy. *no offense* Your feet are pointed outside once your start shooting the ball. Pause it at 00:30 and you'll see.

Your elbow is also pointed to the outside, which means that your jumper isnt consistent. This is hard to explain, but I will try. If you start the shot, your (right because you are right handed) must be touching your hip. This is called the shot-pocked.
This way you make sure the shot is going to be the same over and over again. If you dont do this, your elbow will be in weird positions once you shoot, this leads to inconsistency.

Thank God, I found a video. WATCH IT - IT WILL HELP YOU A LOT - WATCH BOTH OF EM.

Just wondering...is anyone here proficient in shooting with both hands? That's really advantageous I suppose.

I dont say I can shoot equally well with either hand, but i am able to hit catch and shoot midrange jumpers with my right hand. Off the dribble is tougher. An advantage is that i am a good finisher with either hand and my right handed hook shot is butter.

    I am a lefty.

lets just say if my left hand was slightly injured i would be able to still be effective on the court. but not as much, obviously.

But being able to shoot 3's with either hand would be awesome

I know he's a highly regarded shooter, but I don't like his release

true, he doesnt have perfect form himself. He also doesnt elevate on jumpshots.

But I still think this is a great video, and he knows a lot about shooting. It's his confidence that stands out.

I learned a lot from watching it for the first time.
