Anyways, they drew Bayern early and destroyed them and the rest was history. They even got rid of the Germany curse while doing so.

While you are right, I shouldn't get ahead of myself because the season barely started but I am very confident the same path will play out this year.

Real beat Bayern last year for a couple of reasons -

1) Bayern lost a little motivation and weren't 100% hungry as they were before they started winning everything.

2) Ancelloti outsmarted Pep with his counter attacking game.

This time Bayern will be EXTREMELY motivated. Winning the Bundesliga doesnt mean shit to them at this point. They will put everything into winning the CL.

Pep will not make the same mistake twice. Also, Real have been weakened after losing Di Maria and Alonso, and replacing them with James and Kroos who are not as good. All the while Bayern have been strengthened with Benatia and Alonso.

This leads me to believe Bayern are the favourites for the CL right now. They would beat both Real and Barca.

Villarreal in 2006, Lyon in 2010, Schalke in 2011 and Chelsea in 2012 off the top of my head.. Average for a CL 1/2 final.. not average overall

It happens, but unless you win the CL like Chelsea why do you want to be that average team that made the 1/2 by some really lucky draw..

And anyway all these teams had determination, leadership and attitude much higher than the current arsenal team.. you are looking at cold mfers like raul, neuer, drogba, forlan, riquelme etc..
what does arsenal have? welbeck? ladyboy ozil? the french roy keane flamini? the night club promoter wilshere?

BTW, how was 2004 such an outlier??

A final of Monaco vs Porto?

Both teams didn't do any damage before or after, and aren't great historically... (Like top level). How did that happen...

Deportivo was sick back then, still, they were in the semi's with Chelsea... wow.

Really comes down to AC Milan / Ancelotti ****ing up.... 4-1 1st leg, 0-4 2nd leg...

2 mfers on Arsenal that are not afraid of the moment is definitely Alexis and Poldoski.

Early to mid 00s the big teams started spending A LOT of money on players so the underdogs had less and less chance to make anything happen.. if you see all the 1/2 finalists in the 90s there are quite some shockers.. nowadays you know what you get..

porto was definitely not an average team.. monaco maybe..

True.. Also that was like a transition year..

Real Madrid's reign is over, Chelsea and AC Milan would get even better next year... Liverpool would come aswell.

I figured because Porto became the first/only team to win uefa cup and next year champions league...

But they def had a few big names... Really the key players of those early 2000's Portugal teams all for Porto..
