Default Manu got robbed of FMVP... Again

Manu the Magician is the reason why the Spurs beat the Heat so easily.

    He was the spark offensively.

He's the reason why D-Whistle and the rest of Miami's role players struggled on the other side of the court.

Kawhi had a great series, but his MVP is the result of media hype.

Shoulda been Duncan, but espn needs younger, more athletic players to talk about for 24hrs a day, and Kawhi is the only Spur capable of a "Top 10" highlight dunk.

Ginobili has been one of my favorite players in the last 10 years, but Leonard was the right choice for FMVP.

So he comes in and outplays the other team's bench players half the time and he's all of a sudden FMVP? If anything it should be Duncan, not that I have a problem it going to Leonard. Dude's going up against Lebron afterall.

Manu played really bad on the clutch time of game 2 and made the Spurs lose that game, he had great games 1 and 5 (he actually started Spurs comeback) and didn't do much on games 3 and 4 (though they were blowouts)

I think that Kawhi deserved it more, he played great defense on Lebron and was the leading score in the last 3 games.

It was a pretty balanced job by the Spurs.

    Parker was their scoring leader:
    18ppg (48%FG, 42%3pt, 75%ft), 4.6apg, 0.8spg

Leonard was their most efficient scorer (2nd scorer as a #4 option), and although James had very good stats, Kawhi contained him nicely.
    17.8ppg (61%FG, 57%3pt, 78%ft), 6.4rpg, 1.6spg, 1.2bpg

Duncan was the defensive anchor, top rebounder:
    15.4ppg (57%FG, 68%ft), 10rpg, 0.8bpg

Manu was great allaround off the bench:
    14.4ppg (50%FG, 42%3pt, 88%ft), 3.3rpg, 4.4apg, 1.0spg

There is also their 4th starter, Diaw, who didn't score much, but played the most minutes on the team, and was their assist leader from the PF position, and also defended LeBron very well:
    6.2ppg, 8.6rpg, 5.8apg, 0.8spg

I would have given the MVP to Duncan for sentimental reasons, awarding his whole career.
Kawhi had the best advanced stats, but that was mainly because of his shooting %-es, due to him being only 4th option, and not as much defensive attention as the other 3.
(nobody double teams Leonard, while Duncan and Parker draw huge defensive attention.)

    1. Leonard thoroughly deserved FMVP - he did a great job defensively on Lebron in addition to his scoring.
    2. Duncan - consistently good throughout the series
3A. Diaw - he opened up the court - relief valve when Parker/Manu was doubled - facilitated the beautiful passing
3B. Manu - provided spark at important moments - made the second unit go.

How the f.uck did kawhi contain lebron?

He had his best scoring finals in a statistical and efficient standpoint.

Leonard did as good a job defensively on Lebron as anybody could. Imagine if the Spurs didn't have him - who would guard Lebron - Diaw - he'd blow by. Green - he'd overwhelm. SAS has become a great defensive team again with Leonard and Green on the perimeter and Duncan in the paint.

Where do you see the word "contain"?

    just for kicks and giggles,

if we were to review all plays and see how many plays were a player the beneficiary, how many plays where a player was the one that initiated the play as well as being responsible to finish the play in case of a play gone wrong, and how many plays where someone was simply in the middle of a sequence but should take the shot if he decides it's the best shot possible at the moment.

Tony Parker would be your FMVP in 2007

didn't watch this year's final nikka
