Sure, you can say SW is the best trilogy ever and that's a perfectly fine opinion. But if you're saying it's the best trilogy because of pop appeal and # of fans, then you'd also have to say they're the three greatest films ever, period?
im guessing everyone has seen star wars and appreciates them as good films. do i really need to argue that?

godfather is the greatest duology ever, sure, but godfather 3 is a big piece of crap and leaves a black mark on the trilogy.

tlotr is definitely a great contender. im just giving star wars props for being more popular than the rest, and not in a box office hit way like transformers, but a large fanbase way.

Fair enough, I'd easily place Star Wars at #2 on my list then.
I haven't seen them in a while, but was a huge fan of the movies growing up.

    Raiders of The Last Ark
    Temple of Doom
    The Last Crusade

Epic trilogy; reason why I am such a big fan of the Uncharted games.

Yeah, Indiana Jones would probably be my favorite.

Don't think Evil Dead has been mentioned yet.

A trilogy consists of 3 movies.

If that's the case, is Die Hard & Terminator a trilogy? If so, they are at the very top.

I'd say Back to the Future and Indiana Jones is another epic trilogy.
Mad Max is pretty damn good.
how can you argue that having more than 3 movies is NOT a trilogy and then go on to list Indiana Jones which has 4 movies?

Yeah I think I'll switch either Indiana Jones or Back To The Future with Matrix, on second thought.

Guys, what about the 2nd greatest duology?
We all know The Godfather sits atop. No questions there.

    Some memorable duologies:

    Raid
    Ip Man
    Elite Squad
    Red Cliff
    Once Were Warriors
    Ghostbusters

    Hard to think of many.

I agree, I just always looked at Star Wars like I do at the 007 series.
It's like a string of different trilogies, but your point is valid.

Aside from those mentioned so far, the Christopher Nolan Dark Knight trilogy is up there as well.

I always enjoyed the Bourne trilogy. The last Bourne movie wasn't with Matt Damon so I don't consider it to be part of the genre and it was also by far the worst movie of the four.
