They will have also made two picks in the 2017 NBA Draft, and there are small holds associated with maintaining the rights to those players.
you don't know that
I still think Burks and Hood will be gone at some point so there could be more money to play with.

In the past three weeks, the Utah Jazz have seen Dante Exum come back from a torn ACL and prove he's capable of providing valuable rotation minutes,
potentially anyway. Still got a lot to prove

Forward Derrick Favors' troubles with Iliotibial Band Syndrome continue to keep the big man sidelined for the Jazz. Favors hasn't played or practiced since the opening game of the preseason as he's dealt with the injury. Asked if he thought Favors would be ready for the seasoner opener on Tuesday, Snyder said he was not sure.
"He hasn't turned a corner where's been able to practice or play," Snyder said. "But hopefully he's making progress at the same time. I'd like to think [he'll be back] sooner than later, but it's been a month now, so it's hard to say."
Might want to think twice about giving Favors an extension?
Burks (knee rehabilitation) and forward Boris Diaw (right leg contusion) were also held out of practice Friday.
add Diaw to the list. Can't imagine a contusion is too big of a deal but he is old.

"I don't want to ever use injury as an excuse, but I do think that there's a realism," third-year head coach Quin Snyder said after Friday's practice at Zions Bank Basketball Center. "It doesn't mean we can't win; what it means is your margin for error becomes very, very small, and I think that's where we are.
Sounds like Karl Malone. I won't make excuses but...

Dante Exum and Rudy Gobert were the two consistent performers for the Jazz.
Maybe you meant Mack. Exum certainly was not consistent.

Optimism for the Jazz reigns this year, centered around a healthy starting lineup of Gordon Hayward, Derrick Favors, Rudy Gobert, Rodney Hood and George Hill. Nearly as obvious is that the Jazz have a tantalizing bench in Dante Exum, Trey Lyles, Alec Burks, Joe Johnson and Boris Diaw.
how you could watch this team and not even mention Mack is a joke!
About the time the Jazz started rolling deep into the playoffs, the bench did improve. The 1991-92 team had Mike Brown, David Benoit, Delaney Rudd and Ty Corbin. Good players, but no All-Stars.
what bench has all-stars? Rudd sucked!

FINAL CUT: Here's how the Jazz roster looks for the upcoming season:
Point guards: George Hill, Dante Exum, Shelvin Mack, Raul Neto; shooting guards: Rodney Hood, Alec Burks; small forwards: Gordon Hayward, Joe Johnson, Joe Ingles; power forwards: Derrick Favors, Boris Diaw, Trey Lyles, Joel Bolomboy; centers: Rudy Gobert, Jeff Withey.
I can still see them making a move. Withey isn't appreciated and the roster is unbalanced. Stashing Bolomboy and keeping CJ would have been better for sure.

Bolomboy may see more time with the SLC Stars than the Jazz.
Hopefully!
Burks was effective coming off the bench last year, and could fill the same role this year if Rodney Hood starts at the shooting guard position for Quin Snyder.
Wow! Someone that hasn't penciled in Hood!
Diaw joined the Jazz after Utah sent a 2022 second-round draft pick, cash and Olivier Hanlan to San Antonio for Diaw.
A 2nd rounder too? I thought it was just Hanlan. They must have had to outbid someone else?
Favors missed games 28-43 (16 games) with a sore back, partly due to sleeping on his stomach. In those 16 games, the Jazz lost nine (with wins coming over the 76ers, Lakers, Grizzlies, and Heat), underscoring how important Favors is to the Jazz.
How many of those were without Rudy too though? With Rudy they compete every night. Without Favors they will compete.
If the Jazz have an All-Star this year, it may be Gobert.
Hood not starting? Rudy their all-star?

putting up better numbers than Rudy is more than solid I'd say

Him for Neto could make sense other than you're helping a division rival. Send Tyus to the D-league. Thibs would love Neto I'm sure.
