What's taking so long ... it's his 19th year in the damn league.

He wasn't allowed to utilize his full offensive arsenal until Shaq left, so actually it's not 19 years it's 9 years from 2004-2014. If he had actually been allowed to starting chucking from day 1 ala MJ he would've already left Kareem in the wind. At the end of the day Kobe is a better scorer than MJ and MJ has a small dick and you can't accept either of those facts.

Re: Countdown: Kobe Bryant passes Michael Jordan in Points
Kobe chose to come to the NBA early ... and he manipulated his way to LA. He can't complain about context. That's on him, bruh ...
MJ barely played in '86, partly due to injury, and part because management was being super cautious.
Was retired for 2x seasons of what was left of his prime in 1994, and 1995. But that was Mike's decision.
Assuming Jordan stays on after Chicago's 6th ring just to chuck up shots on teams with no chance at winning from '99 - 2003, like the Lakers of the past few seasons? This is no contest.
I guess that's the accumulative difference of career scorers when:
30 ppg > 25 ppg

Re: Countdown: Kobe Bryant passes Michael Jordan in Points
if there is one thing kobe has on jordan, it is his longevity.
you cant knock a dude who can still play (even if average) 19 seasons in the league. crazy.

Re: Countdown: Kobe Bryant passes Michael Jordan in Points
Meh, MJ came back at 39 years old after 3 years of getting out of shape. Played every single game of the season at 40 years old on a bum knee.
What Kobe is doing is impressive but there is plenty of guys who played at a good level well into their 30's, and near 40: MJ, Malone, Kareem, Stockton, etc.
Kobe right now is 3 1/2 years younger than Mike was in 2002. Let that skink in for a second. For skilled guys like that it's all craftiness by that point.

Re: Countdown: Kobe Bryant passes Michael Jordan in Points
I think what people are forgetting is that MJ took 2 years off on vacation to rest his body.
This was coming off long seasons and they went to 3 straight Finals.
He would have declined even more had he not took time off to rest his mind and body.

jordan had ELITE longevity. dont get it twisted. i just think kobe's longevity is a bit more impressive given the multitude of injuries (some debilitating and career-enders for other players).

Damn that's crazy. Kobe at 36 will have more points than MJ at 40 did. Nearly FOUR years ahead of Mike's schedule.
How great is our God.
