What does the formation of the 08 Celtics have to do with Lebron? They had never played him in the playoffs previously. The 2008 Celtics formed because the big 3 were all on the wrong side of 30 and nowhere near in position to compete for championships on their respective teams.

The Lebron/Wade/Bosh trio were a response to the Celtics, having beaten Lebron in 08, and Wade/Bron in 2010.

The 2017 Warriors were overkill. There's any number of upgrades over Harrison Barnes that would have kept them as favorites, and 2016 ended with both the Cavs and Warriors fully crewed up and the results of that series could have very easily reversed depending on the bounce of the ball. The 2017 Warriors exist because KD didn't have the 'IT' factor to win championships unless he joined a pre-existing contender. Which is why his championships/FMVPs don't carry the weight he figured they would( and why he left).

At best, Durant joining GSW was to beat LeBrons Cavs (and to also deconstruct an OKC team that nearly eliminated the 73-win Warriors 4-1 before they melted down). Though the core of the Warriors was going to be there and they would’ve developed regardless of what LeBron was doing

The 08 Celtics obviously weren’t built to stop LeBron. He wasn’t scaring anyone at this point, I’m pretty sure Kobe was considered BITW at that point

Lastly, LeBron has DEFINITELY built teams to beat other players/teams. He wanted Shaq to counter Dwight, left his hometown Cavs to form the Big 3 to beat KGs Celtics, left Miami to build a younger Big 3 in Cleveland to outlast the aging/retiring Spurs. Went to LA to try and form arguably the GOAT super team to beat the Warriors

naw, celtics guys just wanted to win being veterans. I say they were still most worried about det in the east. Warriors and KD just wanted to be MDE. Nets and Lakers sure but those teams are completely forgettable lol
