It looks more and more like his career will play out like Penny/Grant/T-Mac/Roy. How old is he and how many serious injuries has he had already? Real shame.

I'm all for it if this is what it takes to lessen his chances of re-injury. The important part of the (original) article was this...

Multiple league sources say his rehabilitation is going smoothly ...
    http://www.cleveland.com/cavs/index....cavaliers.html

Why rush it? Being great in November and December will mean nothing come May and June.

    Serious injuries?

This is probably his first, unless you count the toe thing at Duke. The good thing is, unlike every player you mentioned, this is not a cartilage or ligament issue. It is a broken bone and bones heal.

Yes, he had a lot of bumps and bruises in his first couple years when the Cavs were tanking. They'd hold him out for lengthy stretches at the drop of a hat.

The last two years, when the Cavs were actually competing for something other than player development and a high draft slot, he played 71 and 75 games respectively. This past season, he was in the Top 5 in the league in minutes played (more than LeBron).

Obviously, that isn't ideal. The good news is that -- while he's had a lot of injuries -- none of have been the career threatening variety.

nobody cares about mvp aside from a players marketing team all that matter are big game performances late in the playoffs and lebron hasnt had any in the past two years even taking on a bigger load

cavaliers fans or lebron team jumpers whichever you are arent smart you didnt think this through
Dont need homecourt baby. We are stacked and would still probably get that one seed without Kyrie for the year, let alone a couple months.

Kevin Love run into the ground? You are joking right? His minutes have very little to do with Kyrie with our depth all around.

what could've been one of the greatest pgs in nba history, sad it's already being ruined by injuries. luckily for the cavs they still have the greatest player in the world to carry them to another finals.

LeBron is going to be 31...

He definitely would benefit from having it easy the entire season, letting the young guys carry much of the load.

Also, developing habits and chemistry early on can make the entire season easier.

i dont know if you are a cavaliers fan or lebron team hopper

either way you will realize the reason he lost the past two finals is because the stars surrounding him were unavailable or injured in the finals

if you have love to pick up the scoring slack he will be tired in the finals. lebron will be too you can tell all these extra games from deep playoff runs are catching up

think logically there are anywhere from four to six teams in the west who are as good or better than your team especially with your point guard out. one of them will be battle tested and if they are healthy and your team is not lebron will lose a third straight finals

    Exactly, why rush Kyrie back.

For the second part, that is the dumbest thing I've heard. Kevin Love is a big boy and did way less "picking up the scoring slack" in Cleveland last year than any year in Minnesota. He will be fine. He's probably lowkey excited that he'll get some more shots up.

And please quit acting as if Cleveland is gonna use EVERY OUNCE of their body to get that home court. LeBron has shown time and time again he doesnt need homecourt.

The Cavs still have LeBron and Love and a pretty deep roster. They might still have the best roster on paper in the East even without Irving. They should be fine. If they were in the West it'd be a much bigger deal because it'd be something that could cost them a top 4 seed and HCA in the 1st round. In the East it shouldn't be much of an issue.

The second worst thing about this injury after probably not having hca advantage is that LeBron will have to play more minutes now.
