Default Why do people consider OKC title contenders?

They havent added anyone.. still just Russ+KD+garbage..

Spurs already whooped that ass 2 years ago, with an injured Tony and no LMA... ...

OKC is a second round exit as it stands

They have an elite roster...with two top 5 or so players.

I will say that having Waiters gives me pause....Presti has ****ed up so huge the last two years imo.

waiters will be traded for peanuts midway through the season. no way he coexists with the new coach and the new roster. maybe a cellar eastern conference team? he's an expiring contract coming off a rookie year. he just needs the ball and a team that doesn't mind him with it. like jackson on detroit. short term plug to bridge with something better a few years down the line. but i dunno, long edit he just got me thinking some more.

they're contenders because they're out of this world versatile and extraterrestrially talented. 7 fters shooting 3s, point guards going coast to coast in three dribbles, sgt shotblocker.

i'll be rooting against them next season of course, but that's just personal.

    -Two Top Five Players
    -Top 5 Defender
-Kanter averaging 18 and 11 for OKC
-Excellent backups and role players (Adams, Morrow, etc.)
-3 WCF and a Finals in past 5 years.
    -Horrible coach held them back.
    -That coach is gone now.

    Any questions?

lol it's kind of true. Besides Iblocka, Morrow and maybe Augustine they're pretty garbage. Waiters is one of the biggest cancers in the league, Singler sucks at everything besides height for his position, and Kanter makes every guard/ big look like Stockton and Malone. When the best scorer in the world comes back Kanter's offensive production will seem even more replaceable, hopefully Adams got better. And the only players worth getting minutes while being offensive liabilities are defensive bigs, not Andre Roberson.

Definitely enough to compete when you have the best 1-2 in the league though.

It's really not true at all. Waiters and Kanter aren't garbage. Waiters is the ultimate feast or famine player, but he's garbage. Shit defense or not (which will be mostly negated if Ibaka, Durant, and Roberson stay healthy all year (they're OKC's 3 best defenders and all 3 missed pretty big chunks of last season). And Augustin isn't a "maybe." He's one of the best backup PGs in the NBA.

If they can make 3 WCF with Scott Brooks as the head coach, Perkins as the starting center, worse role players than they have now, and a less mature Durant and Westbrook, that's enough for me to call them contenders.

They have the best player in the game and another top 10 player with a great supporting cast, continuity, and chemistry, but the biggest thing, Brooks and his favorite man Perkins are gone.

Remember when they were celebrating getting Waiters?? Calling him a James Harden replacement?

Waiters is bad enough to sabotage an entire playoffs run by himself

Why do people ignore that this team made the WCF in 11, the finals in 12, got better on both sides of the ball in 13 before the WB injury, lost a coin flip series to the Spurs in 14 playing without Ibaka anywhere near 100%....

And now have the best roster they've had to date...especially if they can flip Waiters.

The reason people consider them contenders is because they've been legit contenders every season since 10 when healthy.

One of the best rosters in the NBA. Their only real flaw is a rookie coach from college.

That's why I got them at #4 seed, but still division winners. The team is good enough to win 45+ games w/o any coach. I don't think Donovan will bring that much to the table, not yet at least. But I may be wrong.
