The Hawks made the ECF. Many 60 win teams didn't. The Hawks STILL have this entire forum shook to an earthquake level. Can't wait for another Hawks flight to the championship

And what a run to the ECF that was. Beat the incredible 38 win Nets in 6 games, next trail the extraordinary Wizards 2-1, have them lose their best player, then proceed to win the next 3 games by 5, 1, and 3 points. And to top it all off, get swept with HCA by a Cavs team missing Love and Irving for all but 50 minutes. That is the stuff of legends

I know they don't technically make the cut but I would mention the 2009 Magic.
While they "only" won 59 games they did have a much higher team SRS rating then the 2015 Hawks.

That team was led by Dwight and their 2nd best player was Jameer Nelson.
Their only other players of note were Rashard "steroids" Lewis and Hedo "ball" Turkoglu.
Not exactly a star studded affair.

Jameer (who actually made the ASG that year) got injured and was not able to contribute in the playoffs.

A Boston team without KG took them to 7 games as did Lebron and his Cleveland cast.
Once they faced a decent team in the Finals they were washed away rather quickly.

Dwight was great that year and Stan Van coached that team brilliantly but it still took a fair bit of luck and an injured weak conference for Orlando to make the Finals that year.

Shame because Cleveland VS LAL would have been a much more compelling series if only for a certain h2h matchup.

That team won 63-19, first in the league. 6th on offense, 7th on defense, but the first time in 14 years that Kareem Abdul-Jabbar wasn't a Laker.

Besides Magic, the supporting cast was James Worthy, (goaded into a career year by Magic), Byron Scott, A.C. Green, Orlando Woolridge, Mychal Thompson, Vlade Divac, Cooper and Drew. They weren't all-pro caliber, but mostly a bunch of overachievers.

Once the playoffs began, everyone expected the Lakers and the Pistons to meet in the Finals. But they got incinerated by the KJ-Tom Chambers-Jeff Hornacek Suns.

In other words, the Lakers' transcendental player led a magic act with smoke and mirrors.

a 60 win team should be a serious title contender. When they played the Cavs they looked more like a 40 win team
