Default 2008 Spurs vs 2014 Spurs

Who would win in a series?

Old Duncan Parker Ginobilli with better role players vs

Prime Duncan Parker Ginobilli with worse role players.

    2014 IMO.

08 Spurs are underrated in general though. Great team.

If you gave the 08 Spurs a healthy Manu....would be a toss up in my opinion.

But with an injured Manu like he was in the WCF...14 Spurs easily.

Probably 14 Spurs, though Miami's awful perimeter defense could have made their shit look like gold. Still one of the best ball moving teams ever.

Also, Duncan was certainly not in his prime anymore.

2008 Spurs got beat by a weak Lakers team that got stomped by the Celtics.

2008 Spurs weren't good with an injured Ginobili in the WCF.

2014 Spurs would stomp any post 2007 team that won it all

    I disagree.

They were like 1987 Celtics. Great trio with no bench.

Oh, don't get me wrong, they were no all-time great team, but even with depleted depth IMO they weren't levels below 07. They were definitely worse, but Timmy wasn't far removed from his prime, and I think they were still a legitimate conference finalist.

Yes, but why does everyone ignore that Manu was hurt?

And it hurts a top heavy team more when something like that happens.

They were relying on Barry and Finley playing like 40 minutes per game.

Which would have been workable if Manu was himself, but he was hurt.

I'm not exactly saying 2008 Spurs sucked. They deserved reaching to the WCF. But when we compare it to 2013 or 2014 Spurs, that are far better than 2008 version, it was needed to be said.

Although we all know the OP.
He's a well-known Kobe-stan which is trying to discredit Timmy and LeBron in just one pathetic attempt.

No Manu is better than an injured Manu. Biggest difference between '07 and '08 Spurs is Manu's health. He's always been the 2nd most impactful player for the Spurs during the mid 2000s. Having him hobbled and giving those possessions to Tony Parker instead is never a good thing.

Ime Udoka got significant playing time in the playoffs. Says a lot about how awful the bench was.

    Oh, unquestionably.

I'm trying not to react since they're so fresh in our minds, but this Spurs squad is incredible.

Because Spurs homers constantly bitch and make excuses about every goddamn injury under the sun when their team loses.

Barry and Finley averaged 20 mpg in the WCFs. Don't exaggerate.
