Bad after 2008? Lakers were top 6 on defense from 2009-11.. Kobe's defense slipped with age but that was age 33 and beyond and on teams with little depth that forced him to play 37-40 mpg up until his achilles injury. He could still guard the opposing PGs, he was still a good-great on-ball defender.

Kobe was amazing defensively in the 2010 Finals, anyone that watched the series would know this. All the perimeter players for Boston were shut down for most of the series.
