Re: Kobe Bryant freaked out on Jeremy Lin for following Byron Scott's orders
What in the f*ck? What rationale could there POSSIBLY be for waiting until the 10 second mark to foul?
How could giving yourself less time when you're losing ever be a good idea?

Kobe didn't miss the playoffs in '06 lmao. Why do people post such uneducated nonsense when it would take two seconds to look up the correct information?
Literally braindead.

In that situation the fact that he looked over at the coach is an indictment against him. Why the **** would you wait till 10secs left to foul?
Scott may have thought they should first try to force a turnover and then 10 seconds would be enough time to get a decent shot. And maybe that's the wrong call, I'd foul myself and Lin wasn't going for a steal, but this is all the secondary point. Here's what's important:
Lin was told to foul at the 10 second mark.
He didn't do a good job of pressuring the ball but it seems apparent that he got frozen by conflicting orders. On the one hand he has his coach's instruction and on the other hand the star player is telling him something else. His response, looking around and doing nothing, isn't ideal but he was in an unfair position. People are wrong to expect Lin to defy his coach's order. One of the first things your taught is to listen to your coach. He doesn't have Bryant's cache that he can do whatever he wants sans repercussion, he can find himself on the end of the bench for disobedience.
Blame Scott for bad strategy or Bryant for countermanding orders. Don't blame Lin for getting caught in the crossfire. He was basically a car whose driver mashed the gas and brake at the same time.

When a shot takes less than a second to shoot, having one more timeout to call that last play at 0.7 seconds can either make or break a game. Scott was running down the clock to save his timeouts.
Why did Scott tell the whole team and not Kobe?

Just mind numbing watching the greatest franchise in NBA history this out of sync. These are the Lakers for crying out loud!! Just unwatchable. I find myself trying not to watch the Lakers now on League Pass.

Lin was probably supposed to put mad pressure on the ball and if no luck by the ten second mark, foul.
Not stand there with a stick up his ass until the ten seconds.

The Lakers had THREE timeouts left at that point, so this theory doesn't make sense.
Even when Conley saw Kobe running at him and started to make a move, Lin's dumbass looked like he was just gonna try to play defense as usual and not foul (this was with 12 seconds left btw).
I think the whole 10 second thing is Scott taking the blame for Lin being a retard. It just doesn't make sense.

yea, totally comparable situations.

if Rick Carlisle tells a Mav to wait to foul I expect them to listen b/c if they don't they would be in his doghouse. Doesn't matter if its screwed up, you are taught to listen to your coach if you want to last in the league.

As the head coach Scott is Lin's boss. Doing what Scott says is his job. Bryant then yelling at him to foul counters Scott's instruction and thus creates confusion for Lin. Is this something for which Lin deserves major blame? How many of you are told to do something by your coach or boss, don't do it and figure that's ok?
