Byron's an idiot too then.

Yeah I'm all for piling on Kobe but he isn't wrong. Scott is an idiot. I understand if you want to trap a guy and see if you can get a TO first but to tell your team to let valuable time run off the clock when you are losing is laughable.
Scott said they were only going to get the one equalizing shot and that was his rationale. Instead they got THREE. This shows an abject lack of understanding of today's game.

Good. I hope he gave Scott an earful too but he probably didn't.

All that tells us is Kobe knows more then his coach.
If it's under 24 seconds and you're down, why waste any time off the clock?
They had a last second three to tie, but had they not waited'until 10 seconds left cause it doesn't really matter'they could have had an extra 3-5 seconds to get off a better shot.
If anything, Kobe should be mad good NBA coach doesn't know simple basketball strategy. There is no logical reason to wait an additional five seconds to foul, and it most certainly 'matters' when it's a one point game.
Kobe is right.

I don't think Scott wanted Lin to just stand there.

That's pretty much EXACTLY what he wanted Lin to do.
It was a time management decision. Scott wasn't trying to go for the steal and then foul. He was saving time outs.
Of course I think that's a stupid decision but if you're not the superstar you listen to the coach.

How?
If you don't pressure the ball it makes no sense to wait.

He wanted to waste time on the clock to the ten second mark. Memphis also wanted to waste time on the clock as well, hence Mike Conley was just standing there dribbling and Lin doing nothing.
They should've tried to pressure him to get a turnover and then foul, but nope.

I hope Byron was just protecting Lin and knows that wasn't the right call to make.
