1. allow remaining free agents to use you as a means to drive up their value only to never sign with a joke franchise like the kings

2. sign Rondo on a 1 year deal that isn't worth it unless you win the title

Players feign interest in the Kings so the Kings offer big money...then the player takes that offer back to a real team and says:

"I won't make you pay that much, but up your offer a bit or I'm taking that offer"

And nobody drove up Rondo's value and they still paid for him! Vlade is an idiot. Maybe I'm wrong and this team is actually worthy of chasing the 8 seed. Then SAC loses its pick to Chicago, Rondo (likely) bolts, and DMC can force his way into any team with picks and cap space to afford his contract.
