Re: Kobe Deserved Both Of Steve Nash's MVPs
if OP was born before the 21st century he'd know that Shaq deserved one of nash's MVPs and kobe deserved Dirks only mvp and Nash's second award
sometimes you just gotta make an exception ( like jordan in 1988 ) regardless of record ( as long as theyre a playoff team ofcourse )

you don't get an mvp for barely making the playoffs while averaging 28FGA/g

plus nash's first MVP he totally deserved, he turned a 20 something win team into a 50/60 win-ish team with basically the same roster

Can't find one player in 40 year span that fits that description.

Re: Kobe Deserved Both Of Steve Nash's MVPs
Didn't Kobe's team miss the playoffs when Nash won his first MVP. Closest player that you can say deserved both at that time was Shaq. Lakers were not a factor despite Kobe being near his best, Lakers fans need to accept that.
He's lucky that he was blessed with great supporting casts throughout his career and didn't languish on teams comparably to those mid 2000 teams.

Yes, Kobe deserves at least two more MVP in his career. Oh well though...

Wait, do people seriously think he deserves an MVP for leading his team to the 11th seed?

Only Kobe fans think that. And no one really takes them seriously.

Re: Kobe Deserved Both Of Steve Nash's MVPs
he should have two imo. the 2006 and 2008 years. I think 2 MVPs is the optimal amount for legacy after that rings and FMVP are worth way more imo. 3mvp and 1chip and FMVP< 2 MVP and 2 rings FMVP. regular season MVPs have diminishing returns imo when comparing legacy.

Re: Kobe Deserved Both Of Steve Nash's MVPs
Really? Bean leading the Lakers post Shaq to a record of 34-48 while putting up 27.6 PPG on 43% shooting was MVP worthy? Really? Meanwhile the season before a Suns team featuring Amar'e, Marion, Johnson, and Marbury coached by D'Antoni went 29-53 and then a team featuring Amar'e, Marion, Johnson, and Nash coached by D'Antoni went 62-20.
Really?
Other than Nash, Shaq had a case- Heat went from 42 to 59 wins after the trade and he put up 23 PPG (60% FG)/ 10 RPG/ 3 APG/ 2 BPG.
And then that summer the league changed the rules to give perimeter scorers unprecedented offensive freedom and severely handicapped defenses. Kobe put up career scoring numbers with his usual mediocre FG% (45%), as did many others (the 5'11 Iverson put up 33 PPG, 3rd year LeBron put up 31 PPG, Gilbert 'Yosemite Sam' Arenas put up 29). He led the Lakers to 45 wins and the 7th seed.
That same season Dirk put up 27/9/3 (48% FG) while leading the Mavericks to 60 wins, as mentioned above Bron put up 31/7/7 (48% FG) while leading the Cavs to 50 wins, The Suns slowed a bit but Nash put up 19/4/11 (51%) leading the team to 54 wins.
How did Bean have a better case than those 3 while all he did was somewhat outperform Iverson?
Just be happy he stole CP3's MVP in '08 as part of his lifetime achievement award.
