Bruh you really are a dumbass. The situations are nothing alike. Theyre actually almost the complete opposite. Ali didn't want to go to Vietnam to help the powers at be kill other oppressed people of color for war profit basically. LeBron on the other hand is basically helping the powers at be and himself by trying to shut down discussion around the oppression of another people of color. LeBron dosnt want to take any risks(financial)with this one so he's siding with money instead of using his voice to help other people of color. Ali risked everything. His freedom, money, career and his life by speaking out against the war and the powers at be.

For the record I don't blame LeBron for protecting his money I'd probably do the same. Not everybody can be as nobel as Ali was but Let's not act like he dosnt sound like a complete hypocrite on this one and suggesting that this situation is anywhere close to Ali and Vietnam just shows how uneducated you really are about this topic.

I'm pretty sure Vietnam did not have a cultural revolution, so the Viet Cong was really more of a nationalist revolt under a red flag, like the revolution in Cuba, which was also nationalist, racist and patriarchal, all the things that real communism is not.

Vietnam supposedly played the US vs the Sovjet vs the Chinese and managed to keep foreign forces out entirely.

The US on the other hand might have supported "freedom", but that freedom, like today in the west, was probably only for the rich and educated in the cities, while living off the work of poor farmers.

All these things are complicated, so is the Hong Kong vs China thing, at least on a moral level, both sides have understandable motives.

What is not complicated is that the patriotic move for an American is to support a free Hong Kong, because China is the biggest threat to US and European power in the world. It's time to start revving up that good ole' CIA playbook against the Chinese instead of against Russia and whatever country Israel wants to destroy next.

not all communism is oppression. USA involvement is actually a debate that's still being had. Some say there involvement was a Nobel one some say it was just USA trying to impose democracy in another people of color. Either way it's irrelevant to be honest. The point is that Ali risked everything for his beliefs. LeBron did not. He didn't risk anything. He admitted himself that he wasn't educated on the topic so he decided to play it safe and just side with him money and the money of people who pay him his money. Again I don't blame him but the situations arnt anything similar
