Similar to Russell then.
We will see if he has anywhere near the defensive impact that Russell had, though.

Gobert is a legit 7-0 (7-0 1/2) with a 7-8.5" wingspan, and a standing rach of 9-7...but, he only has a 29" max vert.
Whiteside is 6-10 1/2, with a 7-7 wingspan, and a standing reach of 9-5, and at least his max vert is somewhat better, at 31.5".

Re: The next great Big man era is upon us
Where are their MVP's. Look at it this way Ballin, I know your gimmick is to try to combat much of the old era hyperbole as you possibly can, but here's the truth.
Russell, Chamberlain, Reed, Cowens, Unseld, Jabbar/Alcindor, Walton and the centers of the era of late 50's to mid 70's were winning MVP's and/or getting a lions share of MVP votes every single season. It was almost a guarantee a center was going to win MVP every season for over 15 years, and there were often at least 2 or 3 other centers in said "MVP" race every time, sometimes more. In a smaller league than today, so they battled each other for highest award in the league much more often. That was hands down the greatest big man era centers had MVP's and anchored NBA titles on lock for like 15 straight years.
The next best was the 90's where another group of centers were winning a few MVP's and/or at the very least getting a good deal of MVP votes and made great playoff/Finals runs and deserved attention for their talents. People who don't know any better might try and argue otherwise but it honestly wasn't as dramatic as the 60's-70's center dominance. The league was bigger, they played each other less, and they weren't locks at the top of MVP races like they were a few decades prior. But it was still the next best "era" of the big man.
This up and coming "big man era" you speak of, will have to have these bigs at or near the top of MVP races for a good solid decade straight winning at least half with at least half a dozen of them gunning for the MVP's in order for it to be in the company of the late 50's-mid 70's or the 90's. The guys are talented for sure. But do they have the guts to fight for top honors in the league, and will a good deal of other guys that play their position also be fighting for that honor accordingly? Those 60's and 90's centers felt insulted if they didn't get MVP, they felt they were the greatest. I don't see centers today express that same competitiveness you've got to feel entitled to those honors and fight tooth and nail to get them. Time will tell, but that's what would be necessary to compare favorably to the prior "big man" eras.

What happened to all these super freak centers? Are they all going to volley-ball or something?

Traditional Big Men don't win in today's era. That's just how it is.
A 3-Pointer is more than a 2.

Only if said 3 point shot is hit at a rate guarantee'd to surpass a big-mans inside scoring percentages.
For example, if a big is shooting 55-60% near the rim on two's (and getting fouled a lot getting numerous 3 point opportunities) than a 3 point shooter is going to have to be shooting that 3 point shot at a helluva high % to equate to the big man's offense. Some can do that under the right systems. But it isn't common.
And anyways, a 3 point shooter is made better by a potent offensive big on the inside, and visa versa. They are complimentary to each other.

Re: The next great Big man era is upon us
I'm talking about back to the basket, number 1 option big men, dumbass.
Duncan and Pau weren't even the best players on their team. Pau didn't even win in today's era of threes and layups.
Who are the best post players in the league? Cousins, Pau, Z-Bo, Lopez, Horford, Jefferson, Bosh, Duncan. All of them are either the number one option and out of the playoffs, or play within a system that is depended on perimeter play to be successful.
Don't ever reply to me with more of your retardness, again. Be gone.
