but one thing's for sure... he didn't learn it this season. he had the same fade away when they were beaten by Warriors in the first round

Lebron is just hyping it up.... kinda like phil jax's tricks

Actually, its not that farfetched at all when you thoroughly think about it.

so what about all those time that Stephen Jackson and Matt Barnes stopped it in '06? Seemed pretty stoppable back then.

Jordan's fadeaway was much harder to defend because he was more fundamentally sound before the shot.

Dirk Nowitzki's now famous fading jumper on one leg that helped the Mavs beat the Thunder impressed the Heat.

"That is something new. He has always made some awkward shots for a big guy, but that one-legged shot that is pretty much un-guardable," said Heat forward Udonis Haslem, who had success guarding Nowitzki in 2006 when the Heat beat the Mavericks to win the title.

"Probably the most unstoppable shot ever is the sky hook. I guess you put Dirk second," James said. "You have a seven-footer fading away off one leg. There is no one that can block that shot."

one more thing to consider is that dirk has a very high release. if he had a normal release it would still be unguardable but a 7footer fading away and on one leg with a high release can almost never be blocked

but his release is easier to block from behind and his one legged release puts him off balance against quicker defenders that beat him to the spot. His lack of a fundamental base and proper sealing technique make it easier than it should be to front him and take away the base and his blind spin into the move makes him vulnerable to double teams where he has shown he has trouble making the correct play at times. Dirk's fadeaway is very stoppable...ASK STEPHEN JACKSON AND TMAC.

    1. Shaq's jumphooks or anything he did in the post was way more unstoppable than Dirk's fadeaway.

    Also consider

    - Jordan's fadeaway AND pull up jumper.

    -Wilts finger roll and dunk.

    -prime Kobe's pull up jumper.

    - prime Tim Duncan's jumphooks

I do think Dirk's fadeaway is one of the most unstoppable moves in the history of NBA, but I think it's behind Kareem's skyhook and MJ's fadeaway.

Hell as far as shooters, Dirk, Sheed and Larry have the most indefensible shot I have seen, Dirk with a high release(release point damn near behind his head), Bird had a high ass weird release too, Sheed was high as hell too

MJ fadeaway is one of my top , I like never saw that get blocked for how much he shot that shot. Matter fact what was MJ shot % on the fade had to be like 65% at least.

Wilt blocked some 15 skyhooks in that series alone. This from a 35 year old, in the twilight of his career, at over 300 lbs, and on a surgically repaired knee.

`Dipper Dunk,' `Sky Hook:' Should They Be Patented?

    May 31, 1996|BY JACK McKINNEY

Remember Wilt Chamberlain's Dipper Dunk? It was so uniquely Chamberlain's that sportswriters used to refer to it as Wilt's "patent shot.''

But if the move really had been patented, how long do you think Kareem Abdul-Jabbar's Sky Hook would have been in litigation?
