Default Was Andrew Bynum one of the best big men since the 2000's?

IMO yes he is. Since 2000 he is one of the top 5 Centers

In no order: Shaq, Dwight, Yao, Cousins, Bynum

Offensively he was a beast and his defense improved every year until his injury.

In terms of offensive game, yes. He was a legit 7'1" and 270 lbs and had rare touch and decent footwork. He had a legit back to the basket game. It's a shame he couldn't stay healthy because he would've easily been a 20/10 guy at worst and had a chance at being a 25/12 type guy.

But at the same time, when the Lakers won championships in 2009 and 2010, he was the 4th best player on the team, at best. You can argue he was 5th (behind Artest in 2010 and Ariza in 2009).

He's definitely one of the most talented.

His heart and mentality towards the game, as well as his durability held him back a lot. Bynum could have been to Shaq what Kobe was to MJ, but he wasn't even close.

individually, not really, and that's because of his injuries, mental lapses and overall maturity. however, if you see him as successful it's mainly due to the Pau/Bynum tandem which no one in the league really had an answer for (save for the Celtics) when facing the Lakers during their run.

Before his injury, he was giving you 18.7/11.8 and 1.9 bpg at the age of 24. The guy was getting better and more polished. It really is a shame he couldn't stay healthy because I thought he could be the next, great Laker center that we can build around for the next decade.

Yes. Before his first injury he was dominant.

Lakers were #1 in the west before Pau even got there.

Bynum was the best low post scoring center of the 2000s.

His peak was short, he was constantly injured, and he had low determination, but he was still one of the most skilled centers of his generation.

If he had desire to be the best and wasn't made of glass he could have lead title winning teams if he kept developing.

Too bad he just didn't have it mentally.

Thanks for the two rings though, bro

Defense he was not mentally strong but he is legit 7'2 and huge wingspan so was a good rim protector by default. Also had great Man D when he focused.

He was only '5th best' because he was injured in the finals in 2009 and 2010. When healthy he was a solid #3 behind Mamba and Pau. He still shut down prime Dwight Howard with one leg.

Yes, it was Prime Dwight back then-after his finals trip D12 got continually worse.

Best low posy offensive big man of the 2000s not named Shaq or Tim.

He will always have an underrated legacy but he deserves it.
