Ron Artest? How is he tough? Punk-ass couldn't stand up to Ben Wallace. Iverson should be No. 1.

I also have a hard time with putting golf player and "athlete" together.

Artest plays on both ends and feeds off an opposing arena's dislike of him. Yes, he's a little crazy, too.

Love it!

Iverson, Kobe and Artest.

The article obviously is BS. Tiger Woods at 1?
Yeah, I'm sure you gotta be a real tough MOFO to make it in the world of golf with all those hard trainings and the physical punishment one gets during his career. Not to mention how hard he's having it and how he's fighting the world and all that.

I don't like the list. Kobe should be way way up. At #1.
Perhaps it's the homer in me saying this but I don't think so.
No athlete that I know really, maybe Tyson...has gone through all the things Kobe has, all the controversies, all the hate from pretty much everyone and it never seemed to bother him or affect his MVP performances and he would always rise from every obstacle and be better.

That mental strength is not incredible, it's out of this planet. Kobe's confidence is uncanny. His faith is out of this world.
I cannot think of a player mentally stronger who's been through more and dealt with it so well. And he's still going strong and he still isn't close to where he's going to be in the future.

Physically, he's also very tough. Laker fans can pretty much testify on that.
But the mental strength, focus, work ethic, drive...haven't really seen that before tbh.

Kobe is not no.1. Are you kidding me? Kobe's definitely tough but he's definitely not the toughest guy in the league. Alot of great athletes have had to deal to controversies and off the court distractions. AI, TO, Barry Bonds, Randy Moss have all dealt with it. Alot of the distractions of Kobe's are brought on by himself and unnecessarily. For example, going on all those radio stations and demanding a trade. AI has had to deal with off the court distractions since he was jailed in high school. Considering his size, off-the-court distractions, and image, I highly doubt anyone would think he would be considered one of the best players at 32 and a lock for the HOF. The guy is less then six feet and driving to the basket and elevating up against 7 footers. He is the toughest guy in the NBA, but I wouldn't say in all of sports, cause I don't really follow anything else. But I do agree, I dont get how a golfer is no. 1.

Did all those people who questioned Tiger Wood's selection as 1 didn't read the article?

How do you define tough? The ability to take and deliver a shot or ten? To play hurt and still play well? The utter refusal to give in to pressure, circumstance, or more physically imposing foe? To dominate one's opponents or even one's sport? How about the ability to overcome serious personal setbacks, such as a dire injury or illness, and return to the highest level of performance? How about sheer longevity in a punishing, demanding game?

Tiger woods has done it all, and god knows how he does it.

Didn't read replies to this thread, just posting my thoughts;

So, if I have this correct, a golfer is number 1 and a DOG SLED RACER(?) is number 2 on the _TOUGHEST ATHLETES_ list? What a joke, by far someone who is not even on this list should be number one, Lance Armstrong. Someone please explain to me how a damn hot dog eater is tougher than someone who has won one of the hardest and grueling events 6 straight times after having cancer?

Absolute stupidity.
