The Warriors won 47 games in 2013 and then 51 games in 2014. Then something happened, they improved to 67 wins in 2015 and 73 wins in 2016. That was a jump of near 20 wins, and its especially unusual since jumping from 50 wins to 70 wins is much harder than improving from 20 to 40 wins. A lot of us may wonder, why did the Warriors suddenly turned into a historical team when there was no sign of it coming. The reason for this was, none other than, luck. Yes a stroke of luck.

If you recall the Hawks from last season, a 60 wins team that was clicking in regular season, and fell apart entering playoffs. They struggled in first 2 rounds, could've lost to Wizards team had Wall not been injured, and eventually Lebron and the short-handed Cavs put them out of their misery. The Hawks have since regressed back to mediocrity, as it happened this season.

What does this story tell us? Luck may continue for short or long period of time, but it never lasts forever. The Warriors are just an even more fortunate version of that Hawks team that won 60 games, they have been this lucky ever since the beginning of 2014-2015 regular season. Their easy playoffs run in 2015 proved this, as they were never challenged by good and healthy teams. This year they still had that stroke of luck in regular season, but in playoffs it runs out, the magic isnt working anymore.

With this being said, everyone should understand now. The Warriors aint really a 70 wins caliber team as it is on paper, at the very end of the day they are still the same 50 wins team under Mark Jackson as they used to be. It just happened that they had a stroke of luck in the recent 2 years, and once the luck runs out, they will be back to mediocrity. Do you earnestly believe the Warriors are building a dynasty, after they have been completely irrelevant for the last 40 years? Some things never change.

From now on, the Warriors will not be a contender for NBA titles anymore with this core. They are officially back to where they belong, a 50 wins team with 2nd round exit as its ceiling. Their run was fun while lasted, but a run fueled by mere luck was meant to end at some point. They did win a title in 2015, so Id be happy if I were a Warriors fan, although it was against weak competitions.
