no one expected them be this good since 2007. no one expected them to still continue to win with the aging trio since 2007. people were counting them out since 2006. they've been exceeding their pre-season expectations since 2007. what else do you want them to do, win every year?

seriously, i think it was 2005 when the spurs was really seen as a good shot as the champ in the pre-season. afterwhich, people said that they will slowly deteriorate and counted them out each and every year... but 8 years after they are still in the title contention.

seriously, pre-season of each year, what did you expect from the spurs? and compare that with the actual results in 2008-2012. They definitely exceeded expectations more often than not. unless you expect them to win every year (since 98? even kobe did not have this consistent success), which almost everyone did not expect.

They finally started rebuilding the roster a few seasons ago. Up until 2012 they didn't have Leonard, Green, Diaw. Up until this season they didn't have Belinelli.

This has been a completely different team put together around Duncan, Ginobili and Parker. They made it to the WCF 2 seasons ago, finals last season and almost won, 18 game winning streak this season. They're finally reaching their potential. You can't compare this team to those 2007/2008-2010/2011 teams.

Some teams have never even won a championship, but the Spurs are overrated because its been 7 years where they haven't won less than 50 games and have made it deep in the playoffs on more than one occasion punctated by a trip to the finals in a tough 7 game series.
