Default How Tyronn Lue & Phil shook Iverson

    http://www.nba.com/finals2001/lue_la...av=ArticleList

in preparation for the NBA Finals against Philadelphia, Lue became Allen Iverson. Well, not really. Lue was designated by Lakers coach Phil Jackson to play the part of Iverson in practice, so the Lakers could work on various defensive schemes. He already had the cornrows and was able to secure an arm sleeve. He's the right size (6-0) and even has a shooter's mentality.

With Derek Fisher having an off night, Jackson inserted Lue into the game, hoping to throw a different look at the league MVP, who was well on his way to a 48-point evening. And much to everyone's surprise, Lue matched up well with Iverson, stemming his offensive tide by making him work harder to get open.

Would this tactic work today? Would players be shook if somebody tried to look and play like them?

You couldnt really do this for Lebron unless you had Ron Jeremy running around on stilts that made him 6'9. Even then the hairline wouldnt be full and natural enough to bear much resemblance.

Yea because one shot/game totally outweighs how good of a job he was doing on AI in that series and even on that shot Lue played perfect defense.

In his book about the 2004 Lakers, Phil Jackson said he wish he still had Lue for that playoff series because Gary Payton was way too slow to guard Billups.
