Default Almost halfway into the season, your choice for M.V.P.?

Which player is your current M.V.P.? I'd definitely have to go with Rose. He's been amazing me with his level of play. He's playing like he's a top 5 player. He is carrying his not so great team to the 4th best record in the East, and his numbers have improved tremendously. Also, if you look at it this way, he has always been missing a major part of his team. First it was Boozer out until December, and now it is Noah our for like a month and a half. Rose barely had any games when they were playing together. I wonder how his numbers would increase and how the Bulls would play if they had their whole starting lineup ready to go, with a better SG.

Here's my list of the top 5 though:

1) Rose

2) Amare (Wow, dude is playing his heart out. Knicks going on a 8 game winning streak, are you serious? This guy is making the Knicks look like a contender, while doing it solo. If the Knicks win 50+ games, I think this guy can take it.)

3) Dirk (Look at how Dallas has been playing without him. He's also had some amazing games these season and is scoring and shooting the ball very well.)

4) Howard (With new players, he's done all he could and turned his team around completely. He could be the M.V.P. if he took on a more dominant role.)

5) Wade/LeBron (2 of my favorite players, and every night it's either Wade or LeBron coming up big and helping Miami win. I think if one of them can take on a higher roll and stay on it consistently night in and night out, possible a surprise M.V.P. might be taking this one.)

All of these players are all very close and the rankings can change within a few games.

Id still have to take Wade.. but its probably a 4 or 5 man race now.

Wade's my favorite player, but I just don't see him or LeBron winning it this year. Unless one of them takes on a bigger role like Howard, and plays on that same exact high level night in and night out.

Its very very hard to tell at this precise moment. I have perhaps Dirk at the top, and a bunch of second runners that include Wade/Amare/Dwight/LBJ

Following the pure meaning of the term: "Most Valuable Player" I would say both Derrick Rose and Amare Stoudemire deserve to win this individual trophie. The Chicago Bulls would struggle to make the playoffs (if not making them, which is probably more accurate) without the presence of Rose, and in the Knicks case: they would absolutely be nowhere the playoffs without Amare and probably be close to a lottery team. They are the most valuable players to their respective teams.

With this said, the way this trophie is handled and the criteria followed I dont see neither of them winning it, at least not if they reach like 55 + victories in regular season, which I dont think Chicago or New York will be able to achieve.

My choices are either D-Rose or Amare, but I know the trophie will be given to either Durant or Wade/Lebron, and maybe Dirk if he recovers of his injury in time.

EDIT: I had a total mind-colapse and forgot about Dwight Howard (remembered thanks to shatattacks post), I think he would come third in my personal ranking. He might be the best choice because he combines better being the "most valuable to his team" with "winning percentage of his team".

1.Dwight Howard
2.Dirk Nowitzki
3.Amare Stoudemire

Those are probably my top 3. Rose, Williams, Lebron and Wade all deserve to be mentioned as well. There's no clear MVP right now.

Dwight Howard should have at least 2 MVPs by now

best defensive player in the league, Magic went to the finals and conference finals back2back and without him that team is barely in the playoffs (only in the east)

also lolling at Wade, he's not even the best player on his team, and LeBron took a bunch of scrubs to 60+ wins by himself...

not that either of them deserve MVP this season

In terms of most valuable to his team, I'd say Dirk.
Team that improved the most with said player, is Amare.
Best Stats on an elite team is Lebron.
Best player is Lebron.

Rose, Dwight, have honorable mention. If the Heat can win 65 or so then I can see Wade/Lebron winning it. Especially since their stats are among the top 3 in the league. (Per wise)

But my front runner is Dirk.
