Minnesota gets:
Theo Ratliff
Kurt Thomas
5th pick
24th pick
Atlantas 2008 1st Round Pick
Something like that.
that is absolutely horrid for minny...they get nothing but draft picks...and more than likely only one high pick, the 5th this year, b/c atl could be decent next season...this has to be one of the worst scenarios for minnesota ive ever seen suggested.
Theo is gonna in the last year of his contract.
Kurt is gonna be in the last year of his contract.
5th pick lands them a potential star.
24th pick is a nice pick in a deep draft.
Atlantas pick should be around 7-16 next year.

Why is this offer so horrid? Instead of receiving Marion they would get Ratliff/5th pick. Gomes or West might be thrown in too.
Thomas and Ratliff are both expiring contracts though, and the 5th pick is probably one of the top assets we could get in return. You;re never gonna get fair value for stars. I'd do that deal.
so minnesota trades their only great player ever for ratliff and thomas, plus a few draft picks...you never can tell if a draft pick will pan out or not, so IF this does happen, minny will have nice cap room in 2 years, but what upper echelon all star player will come to minnesota, where its cold and would be KGless?
i also know this is a WHAT IF question, but what if two of those three draft picks are busts??? then what is minny left with???
aside from foye, basically nothing, other than more than likely the No. 5 pick this season.

unless boston has another trade in mind, that's an odd move for them. shawn plays the same position (3) as pierce and wally. they two of them can both play sg, and matrix can play some 4, but it would be tough to get your best players on the court all at once. it definitely improves them though.

Danny Ainge is in love with Shawn Marion. He has raved about him for many years. Ainge could also use him at the 4 and go small like he loves to do.

#1 WHAT? next years #1? #1 best chicken in portland? #1 best seat in portland? cause im sure you arent saying the #1 pick cause that would just be stupid.

Pierce started at SG for years back when Eric Williams was on the team. IT wouldn't be bad at all. I don't think Statman's trade has a chance, though, because Minnie gets robbed unless Atlanta is terrible. Which could happen, but it's not good to bet a guy like Garnett on that.

this is true, but (imo) pierce is a much better defender of 3s than 2s, and so is wally. and i'm still not convinced that marion can be a starting four on a team that doesn't run. i could be wrong.
Taken from a very liable poster on a local wolves board
Quote:
Just talked to my friend who works for the Wolves (not in personnel, so take it with a grain of salt) that the Boston deal for KG is being nailed down and negotiated. It is by far the most likely deal, and would obviously happen before the draft next week if at all. It would be Jefferson, the #5 and two more picks (probably the one we owe Boston coming back to us) and POSSIBLY Green.
Wally and Theo have to be involved for salary matching, I believe, but he didn't mention either of them.
Says the Phoenix deal isn't the long-term kind of solution they're looking at since Marion won't make them a contender, will want lots of money soon, and Amare has not yet been offered (at least not enough that there's office whispers about it).
For the record he nailed the Foye pick pre-draft, the trading deadline inaction this Feb, and the James trade months ago. He was wrong, however, on Iverson because he thought it was a done deal. I've only known him since this time last year.
