They would have been in a position to fight with the Heat for the next 7 years or so and realistically compete for titles, multiple titles.

Instead, now they are where you don't want to be as an NBA franchise - the middle. Too good to get a high draft pick, and not good enough to realistically win a title.

Their cap is screwed. If someone throws out 10 million plus at Brook Lopez (which is highly likely) then they have to match that, which puts them already over the cap for many years to come, and that's only with 5 player on the roster.
You can't wait around for Dwight. The Nets did that already, what did they have to show for it? Nothing. Dwight opted in to his contract. Once he gets traded, who's to say he won't decide to stay where he goes? Then because they're doing nothing Deron Williams leaves. The Nets built a strong playoff team in a big city that veterans will want to come play for.

NO he's not. Isiah made the knicks look like idiots. he was not just a bad gm, he was an embarrasing face of the franchise. He's still trying to embarrass us now by taking credit for moves he does not make, etc. he was the worst.

Billy King is not doing a terrible job. But stop rationalizing the Wallace trade, if you don't make that trade and add a lottery pick (and maybe better than 6th if you did not have wallace) you probably get Dwight. So no, it was not a good trade because wallace is a good player.

Go big or go home (as in, rebuild from scratch)

You don't do these deals to get a middle-ish team that has next to no chance of winning a title.

If you think his job as the GM of a rebuilding team is to ultimately put a team out there that will never really challenge for a title, then yeah he did a fantastic job.

If you think his job as GM of a rebuilding team is to put a championship contender out there year in year out, then he did a horrible job of this.

They had a chance, a very high chance at greatness.....instead they settled for being the Hawks of the past 4 years.

Absolutely not. He has put some nice complementary pieces around a potential superstar like Deron. His owner is willing to spend the money, and they are in win now mode. Turns out they really didn't have a chance of getting Dwight at the moment and they had to move on before D-Will did.

Lol at the idiots saying who cares nets owner has tons of money...

It's not about how much many u got as an owner but managing cap space. If the nba didn't have cap space like baseball sure spend like crazy

But in this league once u go over the cap u are screwed no matter how much money u got cause u can't add anymore max player contracts anymore

That's exactly what the Knicks did in the 2000 and ultimately ****ed them up even though Dolan was a rich ****
