A participation trophy? A Finals appearance means a Western Conference or Eastern Conference NBA championship and there is a trophy.... unfortunately it is a great accolade and celebrated hence the same way as winning the NBA championship... ofcourse the only thing being bigger to win as a team is the NBA championship itself....
That and competing for the NBA championship, is what every player & team wants... you go ahead and act like your Kobe/Lakers wished he/they would not want to have been in the Finals (even if he losed) all those years he/they lost earlier or missed playoffs.... you go ahead and act like he/they wouldnt have wanted all those NBA Western Conference Championships....
With your "X of X in Finals" and "Losing in Finals lol!!!!" logic because of agenda you are disrespecting the meaning of COMPETITION / WILL TO WIN, disrespecting every player & team in NBA history... including Kobe/Lakers...
Every player/team wants to compete for the NBA championship, even if the other team is the most stacked team ever / most likely to win.... you dont yield.... to protect your "x of x in Finals" stat, now that would be a LOSER....

Probably more than he could take losing earlier or missing the playoffs.... which is something you & your friends here condone to be more prestigious...
