Luiz has in fact been capped for Brazil as Captain on numerous occasions. Silva is still first choice captain but Luiz is captain in Silva's absence.
People don't bother watching games but this season Luiz really has been top class. Definitely Chelsea's best centerback and his form for Brazil has been extraordinary.
Talent everywhere on this team. I wish Gomez was playing more though, in my opinion he is very underrated. He doesn't contribute anything outside of goals but what more do you need from a centre forward if the rest of your team is this good?
David Luiz seems to constantly get shit from the media and other fans, when in fact hes a great player, and is in fact world class. His mistakes are blown up by others, and at times hes blamed for things that aren't even his fault. Hes a great CB, and that's all there is to it. I honestly wouldn't want anyone else back there in place of him.
Chelsea's defense has always been a staple. Even this year in the EPL we have let in the 2nd least amount of goals in the league, and somehow he isn't a good defender? Who is then? Apparently the guy who has been leading our back line to the 2nd best defense this season isn't, so no one is then.
Herrera has showed glimpses. He's a crack talent IMO the same level as a guy like Thiago or even above, but it's just difficult without targets. The idiotic refs sending him off every other game does not help.

How many better direct on goal free kick takers are there than David Luiz right now? I'd say the list is very short. Very rarely misses the target, has great range, rarely hits it into the wall, great power, and amazing technique.
I'm a big fan, and a large reason is because I think hes a great player. There are players on this Chelsea squad who I don't think should be in the team and don't deserve a place at the moment, but he isn't one of them, and for some reason he gets the biggest flack out of the lot. Hes actually one of our best players. The only issue I have with him is doing too much at times, and playing too many long balls that go no where. Otherwise hes exactly what you want in a player.
