Thunder's Perkins has surgery, out 6 weeks

Oklahoma City Thunder starting center Kendrick Perkins underwent a procedure on his left groin and will miss approximately six weeks, the team announced Tuesday.


Perkins was injured during the third quarter of Oklahoma City's loss to the Miami Heat on Thursday night and missed the Thunder's 125-117 loss to the Los Angeles Clippers on Sunday.

Perkins has averaged 3.4 points and 5.0 rebounds in his 54 starts. He has missed three games this season, including two for personal reasons in December.

The Western Conference leading Thunder (43-14) are 0-3 this season with Perkins out of the lineup.

Rookie Steven Adams made his third career start in Perkins' place Sunday. He had 1 point, 6 rebounds, 1 block and 1 turnover in 16 minutes.

This will definitely hurt OKC but they can fill their holes. OKC is very stacked though so not too drastic.

Perk is the reigning Dwight stopper, and a great rim protector (Check the stats, bro)

This injury is really a god-send for other competing teams that just don't have the stackedness that OKC has to contend.

This is no big deal, but it does show that you don't **** around when you have the assets to make your team better in the midst of a title run.

That injury could have been to anyone. What if Lamb goes down? What if Thabo goes down? They should have made a move for Afflalo or at least someone to solidify their roster.

They are thin...and actually...relying on Adams and Thabeet at center is worse than having Perkins (even though Perkins isn't great)

It's funny how people go after Presti for the Harden trade (even though they are wrong...officially now...LOL), but don't go after him for sitting on future assets instead of going all in to win the title this year and next.

And by all in...I don't even really mean all in. I just mean using your assets you have to make the best team you can...while still having a very bright future.
