and it does a pretty damn good job at measuring what it is supposed....its the fault of the ****ing ignorant morons that think PER is worthless because they think its a player ranking formula

correlation does not equal causation. PER = non peer reviewed junk. I could do the same thing(feel dumb for not doing it to be honest)

It is easy to regress a bunch of information and come up with a statistic.

PER is an efficiency statistic, that doesn't take defense into account.

It does a pretty good job telling you which players are playing efficiently with the minutes they get.

It does a bad job of telling you:

    1) Who won the championship that year
    2) Who is the most valuable player on their team
    3) Who is the most valuable player in the league
    4) Anything other than what is bolded above.

hollinger is the biggest idiot of all time

he actually had espn re structure their team / statistics page to rank players in order of PER instead of ppg like every other sports website

PER is the most idiotic agenda drivin stat that was put together just to prop up lebron

he didnt know the negative effect it had on non stat padders and positive effect it had on no name limited playing time nobodys

hollinger has never claimed PER is the definitive way to ranking players, its merely a tool.

You realize that if you rank it by PPG, LeBron is still first... right?

Some people are stupid. You are a good example.

a little off topic, but still talking about Bynum, i graduated from st joes in 03 where he went to high school, i remember going back one year and watching him play and being extremely unsold and disappointed with his skillset considering he was towering over the other varsity players on the floor. Since then he has obviously improved, who wouldnt when you spend your every waking minute playing basketball, but I dont get why all the love for him around the league like hes the next coming of shaq or enter any other legit centers name.

He has been in the leagye enough time now to show that he is injury prone, sometimes lacks the motivation and isnt consistent enough. just saying...

please...watch these games people...... u look at boxscores and see the numbers without watching the game. Bynum got lots of easy baskets from Blake, and Kobe's pentration etc.... He did nothing spectacular in the game tonight.

Yeah, if the season was just these few games Bynum would get the MVP. Too bad there is 60 more games to go. If Bynum holds that PER we will all bow down. Now can we wait and see instead of making a thread after every game.
