Pele = Michael Jordan (the greatest and first true superstar of their sport. loved by most fans all over the world when they played. Their names are almost synonym to their sport.
or Pele = Wilt + Russell (crazy stats + record titles).
In any case, he's the greatest.
Ronaldo = Shaq. Dominated in his prime. And even fat, could still deliver.
Ronaldinho = Mcgrady. Crazy 2-3 year peak, but went downhill after that.
George Best = Pete Maravich (never won much, but had a lot of skill)
Cristiano Ronaldo = Lebron. (physical with great stats, but some times is seen as a choker - even when undeserved)
Maradona = Magic ( a wizard with the ball. Could had achieved much more if not for his diasese - cocaine adiction and Aids).

Re: Compare NBA players to soccer (football) players
we need one for Daniel Passarella - a defensive specialist, dirty, would bring the ball up the pitch/court and score prolifically for a defence first player.
Anyone think of robert horry - role player who was clutch and won a shitload of trophies - I was thinking of phil neal of liverpool, total role player who won 4 x european cups with liverpool in 70s/80s and scored some important goals.
Ian rush , amare - tall, skinny scorers, rush benefitted playing with dalglish, amare nash.

Re: Compare NBA players to soccer (football) players
You can't compare Cristiano to Lebron. CR7 has actually won the CL and EPL.
I would say Cristiano is more durable and better Dwyane Wade.

Re: Compare NBA players to soccer (football) players
I've said this a bunch before:
Tracy Mcgrady = Didier Drogba.
Both supremely gifted physically. Both entirely unstoppable when they want to be, both generally nice guys away from the game... but both have mental lapses and at times do not seem to be involved in the game. Both were at one point elite scorers and known for their playmaking ability.
But neither, imo, reached their full potential because of their tendency to check out.
It seemed obvious to me at least.

Precisely. Then again you can't really say CR9 is more of a 'winner' as compared to LeBron. Soccer and Basketball are rather different sports. For soccer, as long as your club has the finances to splurge on good players, you could win a championship like CR7/CR9 has since in Manchester, he had Rooney, a formidable backline of Ferdinand-Vidic-Evra and a great midfield as well. Even if CR shrinks in the spotlight like LeBron does, he has teammates who are very good to cover up his problem. However in Basketball, there is salary caps present and often times, having a rich owner doesnt translate to success like soccer does. You can't sign an entire all star starting 5 and have a sixth man of the year coming off the bench. Well you could but the owners wont be willing to pay those luxury taxes. If LeBron had the equivalent casts like CR had, he would definitely have won a championship or two at the very least.
Therefore... I guess comparing CR9 to LeBron is apt.
