Yeah, when shaq left, it didn't go so well. But Kobe toughed it out. Look at what happened a few years later.
Lebron? Still has yet to proved himself. He doesn't have the competitive nature of the champions who wanted to beat the best players available; instead he tries making a team with them.
Toughed it out? Stop lying fakkit. He demanded a trade TWO years after Shaq was traded.

No he never told them. He didn't allow Cleveland to trade him and get something in return because they thought he was going to resign.

Kobe even wanted out of LA until the Gasol trade took place.
Right, when Lebron is 10 times more ball dominant than Kobe? Please.

OP you can do better than this POS thread.

I meant Let's see if Lebron would have left Cleveland, not Shaq.

Re: Think about this for a moment:
The difference I see here is that LeBron doesn't snitch and run teammates out of town like Kobe does.

This, hilarious how people act as if Kobe is some loyal and patient guy when he was begging to get traded before the Gasol trade was made which made his team the most stacked.

Marcus be so Smart
Re: Think about this for a moment:
Agreed. They are no where close in terms of competitiveness.
Lebron wanted to go to a good team to compete year after year for a ring, where as Kobe wanted to have a team for himself to compile stats.
You're 100% right. Lebron is far more competitive.

I never saod anything about anybody leaving anywhere. Lebron is ball dominant, meaning he NEEDS the ball. How the hell is Prime Shaq, the Dominator, suppose to dominate when Lebron HAS TO have the ball? It would never work. Simple as that.

Death Before Dishonor
Re: Think about this for a moment:
How about this
Lebron is getting paid less to win when Kobe is getting paid like 25 milion a year so the Lakers can't bring in any talent.

And what's wrong with that? better than calling the top 5 player and top pf to go play on a team together. Asking for a trade means lakers get back pieces. I don't have any bias towards having to be loyal in this game.

Lebron didn't want to compete. He wanted the best team so no one else could compete with him. 2 of the best 5 players in the league.
You really think all kobe want was stats? he wanted to win, but as the man of his own team.
Very different characters.

He did tell them, when he decided he was going.
If you would rather believe the conspiracies (olympics meeting, etc) over what he said, thats up to you.
Which brings me to another point, a player that wishes to leave in FA doesnt have to tell his team so they get something in return. This has never been the case for decades. This was a new thing created by Lebron haters to hate on him even more.
Which leads to another point, he was traded. He was trade to Miami for 4 draft picks, $16m trade exception, and other benefits.
Also the decision raised $2m+ for charity, which was its main point.

It's funny how Dwight Howard wants nothing to do with playing with Kobe. Why is that?

Neither of us know him well enough to accurately say why he doesn't, but we know theres probably only 2 options
He doesn't want to play for the best franchise in the NBA with one of the greatest players ever who's won 5 rings and has won with a player like Pau and Howard is clearly better than Pau ever was.. And they'd have both. But he might not get to take more than 16 or so shots a game and that sucks.
The guy who's known as superman doesn't want to follow in original superman shaqs footsteps and never make his own legacy and always be the guy who wanted to be like shaq.. He has a decent chance at winning in NJ with Deron if it goes through but he also shakes the shaq biting accusations
I think Option 2 is more likely.

Kareem, Wilt, Shaq, Mikan & 16 titles. He can't handle that pressure.
