    I agree. From an all-around athletic standpoint, i can't think of anyone better than Lebron. Bolt is fast, but he's not a great leaper nor exceptionally strong.

    Lebron = all-around beast of a man.

    Sorry but this is talking about athlete. Anyone mentioning Federer just simply doesn't watch tennis.

    As a pure athlete, Federer isn't even the best in his sport, let alone across all sports. Granted, he's still a freak 'athlete' given his finesse, quickness, hand-eye coordination, but as a pure pure athlete Nadal, Djokovic, Monfils, along with many others are more impressive.

    The reason he's won and accomplished so much is not because of athleticism. Its his grace and mastery of the sport from a technical standpoint, derived from concentration and passion for the game. It's as if he was born to just play tennis. You don't need extreme athleticism for that.

    But, I guess my post is based on my own definition of athleticism and history of playing both basketball and tennis. I define athleticism as being able to literally jump out of the gym - unmatched speed, power, leaping and fitness. And having played tennis and basketball competitively during high school, basketball is definitely relatively much more tiring physically demanding.

    With that, my answer would have to be Shaq or LeBron, honorable mention to Nadal. But you couldve probably guessed I only watch those two sports + soccer so couldn't comment on the freaks of nature who play football or box.

    There are NBA SF at the same level as LeBron atheletically.

    Usain Bolt dominating the sport/event that crowns the greatest athelete in the world. Nothing really beats the fastest man in the world. That is the single greatest achievement for an athelete.

    This = Domination = Greatest Athelete in the Greatest Single Sport/Event

    Being one-dimensional is not the greatest athlete...

    Usain Bolt has the fastest 100m and 200m...but that doesn't make him better than a Carl Lewis, who was great at sprints and long jumps.
