Kobe was dissatisfied with Adidas for awhile, didn't like the design and performance of his sig shoes. His contract with them ended well before his rape case in summer of 2003. For the duration of the season leading up to the rape case Kobe wore Reebok Iversons, Various Nikes, and many custom Laker colored Jordans. He was on his way out of his Adidas contract regardless. LeBron wore both brands in HS, but obviously preferred Nike.
