Whenever I see highlights of Magic it reminds me of before I used to come here, when this teenager said that if Magic plaid in this era, Kobe would basically just take the ball away from Magic when he dribbles, as if Magic was a little kid. It wasn't a Kobe troll or anything, but an honest opinion from someone who really believed that players in the 80s were primitive. It kind of started my annoyance with people who underrate players that they have no idea about, particularly Kobe trolls, since they're the most relentless.

I was introduced to the NBA right at Magic's peak as a player. He is my favorite of all time. He seemed to have enjoyed himself on the court more than anyone else I've ever seen. It was like he was a fan out there living his dream.

Incredible mix from an incredible player. He's to offense what Bill Russell was to defense - his mere presence on the court changes the whole team on top of instantly making the game more fun and exciting. Some of his passes are so good, you still don't understand them after rewatching them three or four times.

Amazing player who I was lucky enough to get to watch live as a kid.
He wasn't really that athletic, but was just so good at the game and smart that it didn't matter, much like with Bird.
Scary to think about how good Magic would have been if he'd been gifted with elite athleticism. Probably would have been the GOAT.
Sad that his career was cut short too. F'king HIV...

imo he could have continued to play without any drawback healthwise.... if only the league, the world and himself was more knowledgable on HIV....

So TRUE!!
I have literally seen some of his passes 20+ times and yet get confused as to who they are going to each time I watch them.

IMO Magic is the greatest "puzzle piece" ever. By this I mean you could fit him in any offense, it would work, and he could still dominate without negatively impacting anyone else. He came in sharing pg duties with another player and it worked. The pg was traded. He assumed full facilitating duties and it worked. When it was time for him to become the team's leading scorer, he did so, and it worked.
